Harford County Infants & Toddlers

As the holidays approach, this is a reminder that Harford County Public Schools is on winter break starting with an early dismissal on Friday, December 23rd. Schools and offices will reopen on Tuesday, January 3rd. We hope you have a wonderful holiday season with your family and friends.

We're excited to offer a Winter Workshop Series in the new year for families in Infants & Toddlers and Preschool Programs. These will be virtual programs and are free. Look for more information and registration links after we return from winter break.

All About Transition -- Is you child approaching 30 months of age? That's when discussions start about transitioning from Infants and Toddlers. Learn about the process and have your questions answered by Susan Petty, Child Find Teacher Specialist, and Robyn Graham, Birth to 5 Teacher Specialist, at our workshop on Thursday, January 19 at 7 PM.

Are you struggling with some challenging behaviors with your little ones? This workshop is for you! On Wednesday, February 8 at 7 PM, Valerie Taylor, Child Find Educational Evaluator, will present Understand and Managing Behavior in Young Children: A Behavior Dozen. Participants will receive all the tools discussed in the workshop, so you can use them at home.

Need help creating a routine for bedtime? Join us for Bedtime in a Box on Tuesday, March 14 at 7 PM! Kim Mayforth, Infants and Toddlers Teacher Specialist, will talk about the importance of a bedtime routine, focusing on comfort and learning. Participants will receive an age-appropriate Bedtime in a Box kit.

Is your family looking for opportunities to play with other children? Join us for Playgroup! We meet on Wednesdays, 10:30-11:30. Most of our gatherings are held at Roye Williams Elementary School in Havre de Grace, however we're going on the road for the 4th Wednesday of the month to see friends at a Library in the northern part of Harford County.

Did you know that Port Discovery, a children's museum in Baltimore, has sensory friendly times and supports for families? They offer monthly Sensory Friendly Mornings, open to all guests and members, and weekly Access & Inclusion Afternoons open to groups serving children and families with disabilities, on the autism spectrum, and/or sensory processing disorders. Pre-registration is required.

Looking for ways to stay active in the winter? Consider Crab Kickers, an indoor winter soccer program for children age 2-12. Sessions are offered in Bel Air, Joppa and Whiteford. Check out their website, www.CrabKickers.com, for more information.

Partners for Success is part of Harford County Public Schools and works with families of school-aged children. Rachel Trovato, Coordinator for Partners for Success, provides information about community services, assists families in resolving concerns, and helps to increase parental involvement in the special education decision making process. This month, there's a discussion on 7 family rituals that develop a sense of togetherness. Check it out!

LOCATE is a free service to help you find child care. You can search their site, or speak with a referral specialist by calling 877-261-0060 during business hours. They can help you identify child care options in your area based on your family's specific needs.

Parents who are concerned about their child has developmental delays can self-refer to Infants & Toddlers. Referrals are made by either calling our office at 410-638-3823 or submitting an online form. For more information and link to the form, click here.

2-1-1 Maryland is a resource that brings together four agencies to provide simple access to health and human services information. What can they help with? Affordable housing, food, employment training, utility payment assistance, services for their children or aging parents, and many other issues. The 2-1-1 database has information on nearly 5,000 agencies and programs across the state of Maryland.

Help is available 24 hours a day, every day of the year. Just call 2-1-1.

Harford County Infants & Toddlers provides early intervention services and supports to eligible children with developmental delays and their families. Services are provided at no cost to families. Infants & Toddlers is a part of Harford County Public Schools.
