The 2023 SHAPE MICHIGAN Convention is quickly approaching! Register now and make plans to attend this event for all Physical Education and Health professionals. Don't forget to reserve your room! Social Emotional Learning & Practice: We PE teachers know the importance of practice and repetition when it comes to ‘sports skills’. Why not apply that same practice and repetition to ‘peace skills’? In this presentation you will see how tweaking games you're already doing that kids love is an easy and effective way to do so. Some of the skills we’ll look at are “telling the truth”, “standing up for your self”, “standing up for others”, “showing empathy”, “integrating”, “including others”, etc… Be the leader of PEace in your school!

Supplements & Steroids: A Growing Health Issue: The Taylor Hooton Foundation is the nation’s leading organization dedicated to educating our youth and adult influencers on the dangers of Appearance and Performance Enhancing Substances. This session provides a pragmatic view of these substances – What are they? Who is using? What are the social issues driving their usage? Attendees will be able to further understand the dangers associated with these substances and the social pressures that are leading to current usage trends.

Implementing Field Hockey Into the K-12 Physical Education Curriculum Youth Programs: Field hockey is the number three most popular sport in the world, played by over 1.4 million people in USA. We will cover the attributes of field hockey and how to implement it into youth programs and the k-12 curriculum.

Team Handball 101: This session will teach the "FUN"-damentals of teaching one of the most popular Olympic sports in the world: Team Handball. Team Handball is a combination of soccer and basketball (or water polo on land!), and your students will love it!
