Have an Amazing Weekend!
Dear Kennebunk High School Families:
I hope you all have had a great week and hopefully you are able to get out and enjoy the gorgeous weather we are about to have in November. It's not all that often that temperatures reach the 70s at this time of year.
Good luck to the students who are in Anastasia this weekend. I hope you all perform amazingly. Also, good luck to the football team tonight as they play against Portland - the winner will advance to the Southern Maine Class B championship.
NWEA Reports:
Students in grades 9 & 10 will be receiving NWEA reports soon to take home. When that happens we will send out a communication so that you can be on the lookout for it.
Identification:
When entering the building during school hours visitors will be required to scan their license into our Indent-a-Kid software. This is a precaution that all schools are required to abide by.
Updated District Transportation Policy:
Please click HERE to see the updated guidelines for RSU21 transportation. The biggest piece of this policy to note is that in order to take a different bus - a note must be provided 48 hours in advance to the school office.
Notes from Officer Champlin:
No Report This Week
TNTP:
Be on the lookout for the TNTP survey information. A link will be sent to your emails as the survey will launch in November and close on December 16, 2022.
Twitter:
Twitter is something that I have tended to use throughout my career. If you would like to follow for updates please go to @principalkhs.

Attention: College Bound Seniors and Their Families
The 2023-24 FAFSA is now available!
The FAFSA became available on October 1. Filing in the early fall is one of the best ways to maximize financial aid eligibility.
Most people can fill out the FAFSA in 30 minutes when the website is functioning well. This time of year, it can be a bit slow and glitchy so if it isn’t responding well, save what you have and come back later. Take a deep breath and know that you have time to get this done!
For more information about the FAFSA and getting help to complete it, please click HERE.

Visiting Colleges & Universities
In order to attend, you must sign-up through Naviance and also talk with your teacher about missing some of your academic class on the day of the visit(you will need a pass from them to attend). Most teachers will be flexible if it is discussed in advance but you may not be able to attend due to a test or other special circumstances. No worries, if you let guidance know you are interested in the school but can't attend the information session, we are happy to collect materials from the meeting and pass along contact information for the representative. Believe it or not, colleges keep track of how many times you connect with the college either through a college fair, campus visit or school information session, so use this opportunity to your benefit. It displays your interest in the college and could impact your admission decision.
A few of the visits are actually virtual and you will still need to sign-up for these meetings through Naviance. If you are in school at the time and will need a place to take part in the meeting, let the guidance office know in advance and we will do what we can to find you a place to sit while the meeting is in session.
Below is the current list of schools scheduled to visit but the list is constantly changing and if you don't see the name of a school you are interested in, please stop by guidance and let us know.
Please let me know if you have any questions.

ON THE SPOT ADMISSION DAYS AT KHS COMING UP SOON
We have seven colleges conducting “On the Spot Admissions” or “Application Reading” Days at KHS in November and December. These meetings may result in an admission decision as well as an estimate for merit based financial awards or at the very least provide you with feedback regarding your application and potential for a positive admission decision. If you are interested in any of these opportunities you must connect with the guidance office to review the specific application process for each college and to schedule an appointment to meet with the admission representative. Applications are free for each of these visits. When submitting your Common Application and you are prompted for payment, please select "Fee Waiver" or "High School Admission Day." Do not pay for your application because you will not be able to obtain a refund after the fact. In addition, for schools where submitting SAT scores is optional, please indicate whether you want to submit your scores when you sign-up to participate in the Admission Day.
