News for Families: Week 28: 2/19/24-2/23/24
Fun Valentines!
Creativity at Recess!
Recently, Ms. Diner's class worked together to make this new 'snow friend'! Outdoor recesses provide opportunities for working together, collaborating, and using creative and critical thinking skills! Well done!
OFFICER MARSHALL ROCKS!!!
Last week was designated as School Resource Officer Week! At GQES, we have undoubtedly an awesome school resource officer, Officer Marshall! Thank you, to Officer Marshall and all of our School Resource Officers for all you do to keep everyone safe!!!
Learning and playing!
Love noticing when our students are reading!
We love seeing students holding real books, focusing their time on real reading and writing! The more we have a chance to 'get into' a good book, the easier learning comes!

A Message from GQES Administration!
Chameleons RISE: Raising Intentionality Strengthening Expectations for students, teachers, administration, and families.
Week: 28: 2/19/24-2/23/24
Dear GQES Families,
We hope you are doing great! Hopefully, you and your family had a very enjoyable three day weekend! We appreciate our GQES families sending our Chameleons every day, on time, and ready to learn!!! Learning is the number one job of every Chameleon at GQES!!
Please continue to dress your child appropriately for the winter weather: coats, gloves, scarves or hats, boots, etc. We will continue to monitor the weather/temperature with the full intention of going outside four times a day.
As you know, we continue to have a bus driver shortage which means we have late bus runs and double bus runs. If you know anyone who has their Commercial Driver's License (CDL) and wants to be a bus driver, please tell them to call 540-667-4253. We have learned there are signing bonuses. Please check into this, if you know someone who is interested. We want to thank our teachers and teaching assistants for staying late for these late bus runs, often without a lot of notice due to unforeseen situations. Thank you, GQES families for understanding this issue!
We appreciate you teaching and reinforcing our expectations for your child's behavior at our school. We ask students to show:
- smiling faces
- listening ears
- helping hands
- respecting boundaries
- doing their best in all learning tasks every day, please!
If you have questions or concerns, always feel free to contact us at 540-662-3575. Thank you for partnering with us to help your child thrive!
Sincerely,
Joanie Hovatter
