The Mustang Messenger
September 15th, 2023
Greetings Mustang Families!
It's hard to believe that we are half way through the first quarter already! Progress report grades were posted on Monday in Infinite Campus (IC). Please check your student's grades and if they are struggling, please reach out to their teacher and or counselor. Rancho Pico has supports in place for students who need supports academically and social-emotionally.
Have a great weekend!
Catherine Nicholas, Ed.D.
Fall Break
Monday, October 2nd, is Fall Break and there will be no school on that day only. School is in session the remainder of the week.

Beyond the Bell Opportunities Start Monday
Beyond the Bell Opportunities start Monday, September 18 and will run Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursday from 3:00-4:00.
Limited to seats available.
Beyond the Bell Academic Support
Does your student need extra help with academics? We have advanced math students from West Ranch who come over on Wednesdays and offer free math tutoring from 3:00 to 4:00 in Mrs. McHorney's room, 604. Students from any math level are welcome to come and get support!
We also have tutoring for all subjects, available on Mondays in room 605 in Mrs. Spector's room and Thursdays in room 207 in Mr. Smith's room.
See Something, Say Something
Please remind your students that if they see or hear something on campus that is concerning, to say something to a trusted adult. There are campus supervisors out at all times, administrators available, counselors and wellness team supports, teachers, and classified personnel that include our amazing office staff who students can go to. Student are also reminded to use our CareText line to report.
The Chip Challege that several students participated in this week at Rancho Pico was a social media challenge. Students recorded their reaction to eating a very spicy chip to post on social media. I encourage you to attend the "Parenting in the Digital Age" presentation at Hart.
Students Engaged in Games at Lunch
Rancho Pico is a personal device-free school. Students often play out on the field, hang out in the quad with friends, go to the Wellness Center (AKA The Relaxation Room), or go to our library to engage in a variety of activities and games.
Our generous PAC has helped us fund games for students to check out and play outdoors. Students play giant chess, checkers, Connect Four, Jenga and Uno. Sometimes students bring their own games. Students have replaced cell phone use with fun ways to engage with one another.
