Notes from Dr. Mullenschlader
As we approach Holy Week, I pray for those who live in fear each day and who suffer from the evils and weakness of humanity. As we once again, were reminded of the existence of evil in the world, God has a divine plan that is above all of our fears and worries. Prayer is powerful because it binds us to God. It is through prayer that we unite ourselves to God's divine plan and can help our children know how to respond to the weaknesses of our humanity. As we enter into the holiest week, we will be binding ourselves to the suffering of Jesus and eventually to his resurrection. Lessons for young people on suffering are difficult, but we cannot ignore that evil exists or that our children will face difficulties in their lives. God wills us to love each other and we have to choose it. The story of Holy Week is the perfect opportunity for us as a school to teach our children love. Jesus loved us so much that he offered himself for us. We can offer ourselves to each other every day when we choose the good of others over ourselves. Our children can do this by living love and virtue. Littles can exemplify this when they share with each other, say nice things to each other, or let someone else pick the game at recess. It is such a blessing to be in a Catholic school and know the love of God and how suffering can lead us to the resurrection. With one week of Lent left, we are going to finish strong together.
