A message from the principal
In honor of I LOVE TO READ MONTH, I am handing
over my Principal's Report space to Mrs. Eklund,
Media Generalist. Mrs. Eklund is our building
leader when it comes to exemplifying a love for
reading.
Lights, camera, action… February is I Love to Read Month. This year’s theme is “The Book Was Better.” We are focusing on books that were made into movies or TV shows. It would be a great time to read one of these books with your child and then watch the show and compare them!
We have fun activities planned throughout the month and will kick off the premiere on February 1 with reading and popcorn (thanks to APTCO!). Each Friday will be a spirit day based on a chosen book that has been turned into a movie.
Thank you for making a difference in the life of your child by encouraging them to read.
Kari Eklund, Media Specialist

Volunteering at Andover Elementary myth: "I'm sure there are lots of people volunteering. I doubt they need my help."
WRONG! I've had countless people ask me why it's "so tough" to get volunteers at such a large school. I've discovered that people want to volunteer, they just assume that there are other people already filling the need. I wish that were true. In reality, we need EVERYONE who is able to volunteer to give it a try. There are plenty of opportunities to go around. We have opportunities during the school day, and also in the evening throughout the year. If you've got the time, I've got the spot just for YOU!
Upcoming opportunities include:
- Spring Picture Day
- General Volunteering
- 1:1 Student Help
- K-Skill Builders (1:1 time with K-2nd grade students)
- Field Trip Chaperone (all chaperones are required to complete at volunteer application and background check)
