January 2021 Parent Newsletter
Principal's Corner
I feel confident many of you feel as I do and am very ready for 2020 to come to a close! Despite all of the circumstances, I still can reflect and see a lot of good as well. Hopefully, you are ready to set new resolutions for 2021. As we begin our second semester at Plainview Intermediate, we do have goals for our campus, as well as for our students.
On January 13, 2021, you will receive your student's report card for the first semester. Students have completed their NWEA winter testing; however, you will receive the report in February as we prepare for Parent/Teacher Conferences. This will allow the classroom teachers to discuss academic growth for the year. From this data, classroom teachers review the strengths and weaknesses of their students and begin to implement interventions to help your student achieve academic success. Goals are set for each and every student, and classroom teachers put strategies in place to help them reach and achieve these goals.
As you schedule and have your Parent/Teacher Conference on February 11, 2021, be sure to ask his/her classroom teacher what you can do to help achieve these goals. You will receive an invitation from classroom teachers once it is closer to conference time. You will schedule your conference and select phone call or Google Meet, as we did in September.
We are looking forward to a fantastic second semester. As we strive to reach our goals for the students and campus each and every day, your comments and questions are always welcomed. Feel free to visit with me or give me a call.
Happy New Year!

As we return for our second semester of the year, we will share tips with students about staying healthy through cold and flu season. Tips to be shared include the following:
1. Practice good hand washing.
2. Get plenty of rest and eat healthy.
3. Keep your hands away from your face.
4. Drink plenty of water.
Of course, these are great practices during the current pandemic and as daily practices anytime to stay healthy. Hopefully, you can emphasize these practices at home with your student.
Welcome back for semester two ~
