A MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear Luther Burbank Families,
We have received excellent news! U.S. News & World Report recently published its first-ever rankings of public middle schools, and Luther Burbank made it onto the list of U.S. News Best Middle Schools for 2022.
Luther Burbank ranked 34th out of 527 middle schools listed in Massachusetts. U.S. News & World Report best school rankings are calculated based on state-wide proficiency scores for mathematics and reading and the results of these scores in the context of socio-economic demographics. Top-ranked schools are identified as high-achieving schools that succeed in educating all of their students. Data for the rankings are generated from third-party sources, including the U.S. Department of Education.
This recognition follows two prior recognitions of note. In 2020, Luther Burbank was nationally recognized by the U.S. Department of Education as a National Blue Ribbon School, and in 2019, Luther Burbank earned the title of "School of Recognition" by the Massachusetts Department of Education.
The U.S. News & World Report announcement last week served as yet another validation of all that I know about Luther Burbank. Our students, our staff, and our families all serve an important role in our collective achievement. As principal, I am humbled and honored to be a part of Luther Burbank, one very special, hard-working, and talented community.

Interested in Joining us for a Book Club???
The cold days ahead offer the perfect time to read a good book, right? Our Luther Burbank faculty is very excited to announce this year's Parent/Teacher Book Club title, How to Talk so Teens Will Listen and Listen So Teens Will Talk by Adele Faber and Elaine Mazlish.
Written by best-selling authors, Faber and Mazlish, this book offers a practical resource with easy-to-implement suggestions to help us tackle the tough issues teens and families face today.
Our Book Club will include three virtual meetings scheduled for January 5th, February 2nd, and March 30th from 6:00-7:00 PM via Zoom. The meetings will be informal - simply an opportunity for us to gather together with parents to discuss strategies presented in a very good book.

This year's performance will be Seussical, Jr. An informational meeting for students and parents will be held on November 16th at 6:30 PM.
Cross Country Ends the Season Victorious
Congratulations goes out to the Girls Cross Country Team for defeating Hale and Sawyer at last Wednesday's District Meet and completing an UNDEFEATED season! The 8-0 Lady Lancers were once again led by Caroline Pinto, gaining her 8th first place victory with a time of 9:43, fourteen seconds ahead of second place Hale runner. In the Boy’s race, Michael Ramos held on in a sprint to the finish to take the win by a nose, beating Hale’s top runner by ½ a second!
This race concludes the Cross Country season. Congratulations to all the runners and to the Girls team on their undefeated season!
