April 2021
Dear Families:
In planning for the upcoming school year, parents are invited to provide information that will assist us in the class placement process. Since every learner is unique, our goal is to pair each learner with an environment that maximizes his or her potential. Therefore, balancing classrooms based on gender, special needs or talents, learning styles, and personalities are all factored in as we compile class lists. As you can imagine, this is a complex process and a very important one.
We welcome any information that you would like to provide about your student in order to assist us in making the best possible placement. Because of the many factors considered when putting a class roster together, requests for specific teachers will not be accepted. Clearly defining the needs of your child will be most helpful in making a good classroom assignment.
If you have information that will assist us in making a placement for your child, please forward that information to me in writing. You may wish to include the following types of information:
Your child’s talents and needs
The type of classroom environment that has been or will be most beneficial for your child
Your child’s personality and learning style
Letters must be received by April 30, 2021, to receive consideration. Letters can be submitted through the Lincoln main office, or through an email attachment at michelle.woodring@d303.org. Also below is the information for returning student registration, please register your children beginning April 26, fees will not be collected until July. These registrations help us plan for staffing so please ensure you register.
Thank you for your assistance in this important matter. If you have any questions, please feel free to call me at 331-228-5436.
Respectfully,
Michelle Woodring
ELEMENTARY SCHOOL INTRA-DISTRICT TRANSFER REQUEST
This message is to announce that the Intra-District transfer window for the 2021-22 school year opens on April 6, 2021 at 8:00 a.m and closes at 4:00 p.m. on April 19, 2021. For the 2021-22 school year ALL elementary students have been assigned to their attendance area school by the District. This includes elementary students currently attending a school on an intra-district transfer. An Intra-District Transfer Request must be submitted online no sooner than 8:00 a.m. on April 6, 2021 and no later than 4:00 p.m. on April 19, 2021. A link to the request form will be posted on the District 303 web page by 8:00 a.m. on April 6 - Intra-District Transfer Policy and Boundary Map | St. Charles Community Unit School District 303
If you are requesting a transfer for more than one child, a separate request must be submitted for each. Due to fluctuating class sizes at schools and each grade level, siblings are not guaranteed placement. If granted, transportation is the responsibility of the parents.
RETURNING STUDENT ONLINE REGISTRATION
Parents can sign into the Returning Student Online Registration form located in the Parents/Community menu of the District website. Parents/guardians will use their Home Access Center (HAC) credentials to sign in and select individual students to complete each registration. See flyer for more information.

Virtual Author Visit for our Primary Students
To celebrate Earth Day on Thursday, April 22, Lincoln is excited to welcome Caldecott Medal Winner Michaela Goade and Carole Lindstrom for a virtual event for our Kindergarten through 2nd-grade students. Ms. Goade and Ms. Lindstrom will talk with our K-2 students about their careers and discuss their new book, We Are Water Protectors.
This virtual visit will be from 12 PM to about 1 PM, so our AM kindergarten students are invited to return to school for this special event. If your kindergarten student is interested in attending, please let Mrs. Cranmer know by emailing karin.cranmer@d303.org.
Any member of the Lincoln community can order a signed copy of this beautiful book by clicking here. Orders are due by April 29, and books will be delivered to Lincoln after May 3.

Happy Birthday to our Remote Students!

Message from PE
In PE at Lincoln, our program's objective is to keep students active while engaging in learning. This year I have been flexible and allowed students to participate in PE wearing the shoes they have worn to school. With the warmer weather, there has been an increase in sandals, flip flops, or less supportive footwear, often leading to falls or slips when we are in PE. To help provide the support and to avoid injuries I am asking that you please encourage your child to wear movement-supported athletic shoes during PE, tie or velcro shoes are the best choices (please no boots, Crocs, slides, flip-flops, or slip-on shoes).
This is important for their safety as we are utilizing the blacktop during our class time and we will be traveling at different speeds and levels while playing various games. Our PE wellness days are on Mondays and Wednesdays, but during the coming weeks, it will be shifted to Thursday on the following dates instead of Monday ( April 15 and April 22nd).
Thank you for your support,
Ms. Semenek
