Do you know what it takes to pick the best fruit and vegetables out at the grocery store? Or do you know what judges are looking for when they judge your plants at the county fair? Have you ever wondered, what plant is that!?! We are excited to offer the opportunity to learn these and other important horticulture skills through the Online Horticulture Contest. I just wanted to share an opportunity with you in our county this year. We will be combining with the Douglas-Sarpy 4-H Program to create a Poultry Judging Team!

Our first informational meeting will be on May 17th from 7:30pm-8:30pm at the Cass County Extension Office. All Cass County 4-H youth that are 10 years or older as of January 1 can participate.

Codes are for Cass County 4-H members only! Your primary club must be a Cass County club, and livestock must be shown in Cass County.

Cass County 4-H Council has purchased codes once again this year! Be sure to "thank" them!

• Free training is for Cass County 4-H members only. Your primary club must be a Cass County Club and you MUST be showing your animal at the Cass County Fair.
• YQCA training is being paid for by the Cass County 4-H Council! Thank you 4-H Council!
• If you prefer to complete your YQCA training online, email Tammy @ tcavanaugh2@unl.edu for a code. You can sign up for in person training in 4HOnline using the events tab.

The Nebraska Department of Agriculture (NDA) is advising poultry owners to protect their flocks against avian influenza by closely monitoring their birds for signs of the disease and by maintaining strict biosecurity practices. Highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) is very contagious and can cause severe illness and/or sudden death in domestic birds.
