Dear Memorial Families and Caregivers:

It’s hard to believe that this past week marked the 100th day of school. Our momentum is stronger than ever as our young scholars continue to persevere to reach their goals. The 100th day of school is an exciting milestone for every elementary classroom. It signifies both the halfway point of the year and an important time for setting new goals and realigning a fresh outlook. I am so proud of the high quality instruction that takes place everyday in our classrooms. I feel extremely fortunate to work alongside a staff who create an environment that facilitates student learning through a variety of innovative and collaborative methods and activities.

We are all looking forward to the next part of the school year filled with new and exciting opportunities. I thank you in advance for all that you do as parents and guardians to ensure your scholar continues to learn and grow.

We all survived the Artic freeze and yes, the groundhog didn’t see his shadow. Therefore, six more weeks of winter is in store but wasn’t that always the case anyway. I never understood all that.

As Valentine’s Day approaches I want to express my love and gratitude for positive relationships within our community, as family and community support makes our school even stronger. We are the “Memorial Family” because we want our school family to be an extension of your family. We want to serve you in times of joy, happiness, and triumph, but also in times of challenge, grief, and struggle. Academic learning and growth are our bottom line, yet we also understand that educating students means being attentive to the “whole child” and caring about their social and emotional well-being.

Our teachers and staff love our students, and we love to be a part of their learning and growth during these crucial years of development. We love having parents in our school and contributing to our positive school culture. Parents and the community are a big part of who we are, and we want you to help us tell our story. This week lots of our scholars engaged in hands-on activities to celebrate the 100th day or school.

1. NPS Parent Orientation Night - Thursday, March 30, 2023, @ 7:00 p.m.

Virtual Live Stream on YouTube with Elementary School Principals Parents of incoming Kindergarten students are invited to meet with the Elementary School Principals to learn more about the Kindergarten onboarding process, overall curriculum goals, and how Natick Public Schools works to support its youngest learners. Principals will discuss the orientation process (parent orientation, student assessment, and student orientation) and the modifications in place to support safety at school. Also discussed will be programming and services and the calendar of important events. This evening will help you prepare for your child’s transition into kindergarten. Building-based meetings will be hosted in May to review building-specific procedures. Links will be shared via email closer to these dates.

2. The Elementary Enrichment Program runs for two 8-week sessions per year. This session we have courses offered at Ben-Hem, Brown, Johnson, Lilja and Memorial. Classes are designed and led by NPS staff and focus on hands-on exploration and collaborative fun, and open to students who attend the school at which each course is offered. 3. Lost and Found is open for business. Please stop by or have your child visit for missing belongings. If you have names on items, it is helpful so that we can provide more support.

The Memorial PTO is a parent and teacher run, non-profit organization committed to enhancing and enriching the education of our students and fostering a sense of community within our school. The PTO provides assistance to teachers within the classroom settings, raises funds for educational materials and experiences, advocates school and family social interaction, and provides an unbiased forum for sharing information on issues that impact our students.
