Dear neighbors and friends,
We are excited to announce our Annual Can Food Drive, and we invite you to be a part of this meaningful initiative! Together, we can make a significant impact in fighting hunger and supporting those in need within our community.
During the Can Food Drive, we kindly request your assistance in collecting non-perishable food items to help stock local food banks and provide essential nourishment to individuals and families facing food insecurity. No contribution is too small, as each can or package donated makes a difference in someone's life.
Items will be collected and distributed to ACTS of Henderson. The class that collects the most cans will receive a prize such as hot chocolate or cupcakes.
Thank you in advance for your kindness and willingness to join us in this important endeavor. Together, we can work towards a hunger-free community.

SCHOOL PROCESSES & PROCEDURES
Early Dismissals
Early Dismissals, parents may:
- Come to VECHS main office (Rm. 2314) with your picture ID to sign out student directly, or
- have the student bring a parent-signed note with the parents' contact phone number and time of the early dismissal to Ms. Henry. It is vital that the phone number in the PowerSchool matches the phone number on the note; as that is how we can confirm we are speaking to an authorized parent via the phone. Once confirmed, the student will be authorized to sign out via Identi-Kid at the requested time.
- Before leaving campus, grades 11, 12 & 13 students with a parent-authorized Early Release form on file, are required to sign out of school.
VCS Policy Code: 4210 Release of Students from School:
- The safety of students is a paramount concern of the Vance County Board of Education and the school system.
- Parents are responsible for notifying the school office of all early dismissals.
- Students are never authorized to leave campus without prior notification to the school.
- Student-athletes who are dismissed before the VCHS pre-determined time must submit an early dismissal note. Students will be marked as unexcused absences if no note is filed.
- Students must submit written authorization from a parent/guardian stating permission for the student to leave campus with anyone who is not the legal parent/guardian.
