Welcome Back
I hope that you all managed to have a lovely Christmas and Happy New Year to you all!
It has been wonderful to welcome everyone back to school and already the children are working hard.
Welcome to Miss Mowton who has joined the team working as a Teaching Assistant in Diamonds. Mrs Kearns has also joined the team teaching Rubies though unfortunately has been unable to start yet due to being poorly with Covid. She is eager to be in and we wish her a speedy recovery!
We have again seen further applications for places at our school. We are now looking for a part-time teaching assistant and part-time admin assistant. These roles will be advertised soon so please keep an eye out on the East Riding website.
Pearls
Happy New Year! In Pearls class we have had a busy week and all the children have settled back into school routines extremely well, well done everyone!
We have been talking about our Christmas holiday and writing thank you letters to Father Christmas, we were impressed with the work from all the children, particularly the reception children with their writing ability. We have also been talking about New Year, we’ve made party hats and looked at how the date has changed, focusing on months and seasons. This week, we have also been practising our counting and playing games with the numicon.
Next week we will be starting our new theme – Rumble in the Jungle! For more information please look at our knowledge organisers and medium term plan, which will be on the pearls page of the school website and will also be sent out via tapestry.
Rubies
The children in Rubies have been doing lots of reading and recapping of their phonics learning. The classroom has been a hive of activity with lots of fun maths games to practise our prior-learning and strengthen our basic maths skills. The children have also been talking what they did for Christmas and their hopes and dreams for the year ahead.
Diamonds
Although they have not been back long, Diamonds class have wasted no time in settling back in and starting their new learning. We spent time during our Jigsaw PSHE talking about the challenges we may face this term, along with our goals and dreams and how we are going to achieve them. On Thursday we had lots of fun in French by going shopping. We bought clothes and described them all in French! We have also started learning about the stone age and have been exploring life in early Britain. We are so excited to learn more :)
Sapphires
Reading Rewards
This term the children need to earn the following number of reads for each prize level. If you child attends one of the school reading clubs this is worth 3 reads meaning they would at least get Bronze level but if they attend both they would get enough for Gold.
Remember younger children could listen to a story and this counts as a read.
As much as we prefer listening to clips of your child read/be read to on Tapestry/Seesaw, you can record reads on paper.
15 reads (3 reads a week) = Bronze Level
20 reads (4 reads a week) = Silver Level
30 reads (6 reads a week) = Gold Level

Covid-19
If your child has been in contact with a positive case, it is recommended that they are tested daily. A PCR is advised if you have been in contact with a positive case but are not showing symptoms as it often detects the virus before you are infectious.
