Another Important Update
August, 2023
Message from J. Desto
Good afternoon Mason Road Family,
THANK YOU TOWN OF DUDLEY (and Charlton) for a successful vote. This vote means the most to the DCRSD community and each school. What a relief! There is quite a bit of work to be done before August 29th but I can assure you that every administrator is ready for the work!
I also wanted to send out some reminders of important dates, etc.
Here is a great TikTok video that will get us excited for the first day! It is great! Please visit: https://www.tiktok.com/@joshuarylesking/video/7268072865495354654?_r=1&_t=8euzrXpZ0Qg
As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me. Due to summer hours, email is best. You can reach me at jdesto@dcrsd.org.
Sincerely,
Jen D.
Message from Mr. Lamarche, August 17, 2023
All,
I write to share that the Dudley voters supported the School Committee’s FY24 budget request at the ballot box this evening. I do not have the official numbers but this is my confirmed understanding.
We respect the voters and are grateful for the outcome. The voters of Dudley still have rooted beliefs regarding increase costs, but we are committed to continue our work with town leaders, town representatives and the community moving forward.
We sincerely appreciate the steadfast commitment by the DCRSD School Committee to maintain a student experience that is expected and valued in Dudley-Charlton. Thank you! We also appreciate the Town of Charlton for the same and the Town of Dudley.
We are thankful for all of you for your patience throughout the spring and summer. Your collective investment in your unwavering effort to shine for our students through uncertainty was incredible and professional. Thank you!
While we take a deep breath, we have a number of pieces to put together in preparation for the start of the school year. We appreciate your flexibility as we meet the demands and excitement of opening our 2023-2024 school year!
Please enjoy the remaining days of summer and we look forward to seeing you Monday August 28, 2023 at 8:00 AM at SHRHS.
Respectfully,
Steven M. Lamarche
MEET THE TEACHER!!
ON AUGUST 14th, teacher assignments were made available through the Parent Portal Only (see below for more information on parent portal)!
Mark those calendars to come to Mason Road School for an open house type opportunity to meet your child's teacher. This is a drop in event.
August 28th: Open House: Grade 1: 2pm-3pm
August 31st: Open House: PK/Kindergarten: 10-11:00AM OR 1:00 - 2:00PM - families can come at either time
What does my child(ren) need for school supplies?
Now I know that school shopping is a very treasured event, especially for students starting school for the first time. If you choose to purchase supplies for your child(ren) they are certainly welcome to bring there new treasures into school. Here are the current lists of request but these are certainly not mandated:
Throughout the year, however, teachers might reach out asking for your help in providing materials for certain projects, etc. If you are able to provide at that time, great! If not, no worries. All children will be able to participate in classroom projects.
Accessing Parent Portal
Once again, ON AUGUST 14th, teacher assignments will be available through Parent Portal Only! An email will be sent to inform you that the information is available.
If you have any questions about difficulties accessing the parent portal, please contact Mrs. Harris at charris@dcrsd.org or (508) 943-4312.
Dear Families of DCRSD:
It is with great pleasure that I get to share with you that the Massachusetts Legislature and Governor Healy have approved free school meals permanently starting this school year in 2023, becoming the 8th state to guarantee free meals to all students across the country.
I would still encourage families to fill out the Meal Benefit Application, which can be found on the DCRSD foodservices webpage at: Food Services Webpage as this provides data for key funding for academic resources and may also connect families to additional benefits such as waived user fees, reduced utility bills and other state programs.
I hope that you all get to enjoy the remainder of the summer, and we are excited to provide your students with delicious, healthy meals this school year
With Regards,
Matthew Greenberg, Food Service Director
