➡️ Principal's Update ⬅️
It seems like the fall months are shooting by. As a matter of fact, second quarter mid-term is next week (November 20th), so please check in on your student’s grades as we gear up for the Thanksgiving holiday. Before you know it, Christmas Break will be here. Yet one big difference this year is the semester will not end until January 15th. A goal for students should be to go into both Thanksgiving and Winter Holiday with positive momentum on their grades. Students and parents checking in on grades is a big part of that, and of course, students need to reach out to teachers in effort to ensure all their work is turned in.
We are in the middle of our Country Meats Fundraiser and students were given order forms and flyers. Beef sticks, beef sticks, and more beef sticks! HMS students have until this Friday to turn in their orders and proceeds go to our Parent Teacher Student Organization. PTSO funds are always used to support HMS students and teachers.
Finally, a quick mention about masks. I was on the intercom a lot last week, talking to students about wearing their masks. Whether before school while waiting to enter the school, or in the classroom while learning, students should wear their mask and they need to be sure they are covering their noses and mouths. The cold season is here and I’ve noticed students have gotten more lax about social distancing and wearing masks. I’ve reminded our staff to be diligent about reinforcing the little things. I’m the first to admit that it is human nature to get a little lax as the year progresses, yet with the winter months around the corner, HMS needs to be even MORE diligent than we were in August. Please talk to your child about the importance of mask wearing and social distancing as we approach the new year. As always, it takes the village to take care of the young ones. Thank you for supporting your child’s education and thank you for encouraging safety at school.

Gratitude opens the door to more relationships.

The Middle School Student Council is providing an opportunity to learn more about gratitude and giving during the upcoming Thanksgiving season. All next week, advisory classes will be collecting food donations to help families who are struggling. If you are able, please talk to your student about things your family has to be grateful for and encourage them to donate to our food drive. Details of items to be collected are in this newsletter.
