Walk & Roll To School (Friday, October 5)
Field trip slips have gone home with students today for our Walk and Roll event which is tomorrow!
Please meet us on the corner of 3rd Street and Oakdale (near Joe Lee Rec Center on Oakdale Streets) at 8:20 AM. Students may bring their bike, scooter, or their favorite shoes to walk in.
Students may bring their trip slip with them to the start of the walk tomorrow morning!
See you then!
Picture Day is Soon!
Carver Picture Day is Monday, October 23, 2023! Schedule your haircuts and hair braiders now!
We are asking all students to wear their white polo shirt for the photo. We will supply the Mayflower Blue sweater for each student to wear in their picture. Photos will be from the chest up, so we will not see their pants or shorts on the bottom. It is our hope that the class composite photo looks complete with scholars in their blue and white uniform.
Photo package forms will go home within the coming days. Families must pay up front for their photo package, cash only, exact change please.
Families will receive the photos within 6-8 weeks. You may order additional photos through the LifeTouch website. Students will also receive a photo ID card with their package.
School Site Council
Carver's School Site Council (SSC) is a group of teachers and family members who offer opinions and advice on how we can improve student outcomes and ensure a safe and supportive environment for all students.
If you would like to nominate yourself, or someone else, email Principal Manning at ManningM1@sfusd.edu no later than October 12, 2023.
There is a two year commitment to be on the council, and you must attend the monthly SSC meetings, which will be virtual this year.
Finally, a word about food from home...
Thank you for helping us ensure that students are eating healthily while at school. We need your support even more now.
We are beginning to notice that lots of students are bringing snacks to school (candy, chips, soda, etc) and refusing to eat any of the school offerings for breakfast and lunch. Please remember that all students will be offered a school breakfast and lunch, including fresh fruit and milk. Students may decline the school lunch, but will not be allowed to eat candy, soda, and chips instead. Students may bring a bagged lunch, lunchable, sandwich, or even leftovers from last night's dinner.
When students eat foods that are high in sugar and processed items, we notice that they are very sleepy and sometimes irritable after lunch. We need your support in fueling their little brains with nutritious foods throughout the day.
Here are some fun lunch ideas that you can try! Nurse Sherree is looking forward to awarding our next Health Champion in October!! Who will it be?
Finally, please remember that school staff may not accept DoorDash or other food delivery services for children. Thank you for your cooperation.
