If you haven't done so already, now is a great time to check in on your child's school attendance. You can do so via the parent portal. Click HERE to sign up. Daily and on time attendance is crucial to your child's academic success and future! 🙂
WHEN DO ABSENCES BECOME A PROBLEM?
GOOD ATTENDANCE: 5 or fewer absences
WARNING SIGNS: 6 to 10 days
CHRONIC ABSENCE: 10 days or more
Have a planned absence or emergency? Contact the school to request a "participate remotely" day. Students can use up to 5 per semester and the day be considered "present"!

Holiday Hero Food Drive
PTA Caring and Sharing Season of Giving Continues
Thank you so much for the tremendous donations to our HBMS food pantry as the first part of Season of Giving campaign! We were able to fulfill almost all of the current needs.
As we move into December, we will begin part two of the Season of Giving: our annual Holiday Hero Gift Card Drive. Every December we collect funds to purchase grocery story gift cards for HBMS families. Through your generous donations, these gift cards are distributed to families in need by the school administration and typically last through the end of the school year. Your donations make a world of difference to the families in our community. Here are just a few of the ways, past contributions have helped others:
"Receiving the Kroger gift cards helped myself and my family, always right in time. It allowed me to plan and budget for my groceries. Very thankful to have the support.”
"I am thankful for the support of the gift cards, it helped me to buy food for my family.”
"Thank you for the gift card. Buying fresh foods for my 4 children is expensive but with the gift
card, I was able to afford a healthy meal for my children.”
It's easy donate through the PTA website. Any and all donations are appreciated as we pool all funds to purchase as many $25 gift cards as we can. We will collect donations starting December 1 through the end of the year.

In addition, be on the lookout for the PTA at morning carpool on Friday, December 8 where we will be handing out donuts as a thank you for our wonderful school community and collecting donations.
HMBS is truly a wonderful community, and we thank you all for your continued generosity!

Georgia Parent Survey - please help us reach our participation goal!
Your opinion matters! Tell us about your experiences with the district and our school by filling out the College and Career Ready Performance Index (CCRPI) Georgia Parent Survey required by the Georgia Department of Education.
This survey provides a foundation for your school’s Climate Star rating score and is part of the CCRPI. These climate scores are an important indicator of culture and climate within each school in the district. Each school will receive a 1-5 star rating, with five stars representing an excellent school climate, and one star representing a school climate most in need of improvement. The surveys are anonymous and confidential and will remain open through Friday, December 15. To access the CCRPI survey, click here.
Our school will LOSE CCRPI points from the state if we do not meet the parent participation goal. Please help us by letting us hear from you!
