Math with Mrs. Skiba

I have a class website where students and guardians can quickly access information. You will be able to see our class calendar, daily notes and links to newsletters. Additionally, I have created an Amazon Class Wish List. I have told students if they feel that anything should be added to our classroom to let me know and I will add it. I will be continually adding items throughout the year. Please do not feel obligated to make a purchase, but all donations are appreciated. Continual desired items include antibacterial wipes, kleenex, pencils and lined paper.

Please check PowerSchool weekly to stay up to date on your student's grades and missing work. PowerSchool will be your best resource to track your student's progress. Assignments are entered into Google Classroom but often times students forget to electronically mark they have been turned in so they will say they are late and/or missing when they have actually been turned in and graded. If you have any questions, please let me know.

This week we continued Chapter 1: Adding and Subtracting Integers. We took notes on Lessons 1.2: Adding Integers and Lesson 1.3: Adding Rational Numbers. The Chapter 1 Lessons 1.1-1.3 Quiz was today (Friday). This is worth 50 points. Students will receive their quizzes back next week. All students will be able to correct their mistakes to earn back half of the points they missed. To complete this "redo" they must fill out the redo form, staple it to their original quiz and turn it back in by next Monday, October 3rd. If you have any questions, please let me know.

If your student is missing assignments, they are still able to complete them and turn them in for 8/10 points. They can find them google classroom. All Chapter 1 missing work must be turned in prior to our Chapter 1 test that is tentatively scheduled for Monday, October 3rd.

Next week we will continue with Chapter 1. We will study Lessons 1.4: Subtracting Integers and Lesson 1.5: Subtracting Rational Numbers. If students need extra help I recommend they utilize the BIM website and or Khan Academy (Subtracting Integers and Subtracting Rational Numbers.)

Our math support interventionist, Megan Bateson, is offering after school help every Monday and Wednesday from 2:30-3:30 PM in the Math Intervention room located across the hall from Student Services. If your student would like to stay but is unsure of the location, I am happy to help them find the room.

All dates are subject to change as lessons are student driven. Extra time may be spent on concepts as needed which would move back quiz and test dates.
