Parent Tips
How to Teach Your Child Self-Control by Giving them Responsibilities
Help Your Child Develop Self-Control
It takes time for children to understand the value of self-control, as opposed to control that’s imposed by adults. You can help by gradually giving your child more responsibility for completing schoolwork and chores. Be patient and persistent, and your elementary schooler will grow into a happy, self-disciplined adult who is ready and able to tackle life's challenges. Help your child practice the necessary skills, such as time management and organization.
If you take it one step at a time, and if you’re patient and persistent, you will watch your child grow into a happy, self-disciplined adult—ready and able to tackle life’s challenges.
