Harrington Happenings
November 27, 2023
Happy Sunday Harrington Families!!
I hope everyone has had a wonderful Thanksgiving and long weekend! I hope each of you had the opportunity to get together with friends, and families and if you travelled had an enjoyable trip. We are about to embark on the next full four weeks of school before the holiday break, in that time we will be working hard to finish out the first quarter of the school year. As a reminder, next Thursday December 7th will be a half-day for Parent/Teacher Conferences.
On December 15th we will be holding a special event that we have not had in 6 yrs; the students will be taping Mr. A to the wall! Granted I'm heavier than I was when we did it 6 yrs ago, haha! This event is held to provide a financial relief fund for students that need assistance for field trips or any other activity that requires a monetary element. As we did the first time we held this event, students will pay $1 for a 12" piece of tape. Reminders will be sent out each week, I look forward to this event and seeing the excitement on the student's faces as they attempt to stick me to the wall! Thank you as always for your support in our events.
Harrington wants to offer support to families in need of additional resources throughout the school year. We are able to help families in a variety of ways through assistance with field trips, holiday meals or gifts, winter outdoor attire, and more! With the resources that are available to us, we will do our best to meet the needs of all families. If your family is in need, please complete the following form at your earliest convenience. Click here: Harrington Family Resources to access the form.
If you do not feel comfortable completing this form but would benefit from the resources, please contact our school counselor, Lindsay Rhames, at albertl@chelmsford.k12.ma.us or 978-251-5166 ext.6123 and she will be happy to assist you.
I will remind families that drive on school grounds to pick up their students and drop off their students that smoking is prohibited on school grounds. If a staff member does witness smoking in vehicles on school grounds, they will kindly ask you to stop smoking, this includes vaping devices. I appreciate your support in adhering to no smoking on the school grounds.
Once again, remember to…"Push through your day, Smile, Be Happy, Stay Positive!"
Be safe! Stay well!

Grade 2 Annual Share the Warmth Event
Our Harrington Second Graders would like to "Share the Warmth" again this year by collecting NEW hats, mittens and gloves to bring to The Wish Project, a local charity located in North Chelmsford. Last year, we collected 447 items, and we hope to exceed that goal this year! On December 1st, a large box will be placed in our school lobby for our collection. All donations of child to adult-sized items will be appreciated! This is the sixth year that our second graders have led this service project at Harrington School and we look forward to helping others in our community to stay warm this winter!
Let's Stay Connected!

Join us this Saturday, December 2 from 10-2 for our Winter Store located in the Harrington gym & cafeteria! Small gifts for all ages will be available to purchase for the holiday season and local vendors will be on site.
We are still in need of volunteers for this event - our events can’t happen without the support of Harrington families! Have a high school student in need of volunteer hours? This is a perfect opportunity: https://forms.gle/XbcFre8MogbWpW236
We still have room for additional vendors! If you or someone you know makes and sells handmade items we would love to include them: https://forms.gle/SUoGNPqyZxmCc6q76
Please save the date for our next meeting: Wednesday, December 6 at 6:30. Please email harringtonpto@gmail.com with anything you’d like added to the agenda!

Students will not be required to show a bus pass and bus pass checks will not be conducted over the first few weeks of school. By the middle of September when final adjustments have been incorporated into the transportation routes, we will distribute bus passes to students and begin bus pass checks. The bus passes this year will contain the bus number, bus stop, and approximate pick-up time for each rider. Please note that buses will run late for the first week or two of school as drivers take extra care in learning stops and students.
District Nutrition Message
This year Massachusetts is offering all school lunch and breakfast at no charge to students. This does not automatically make families eligible for any other benefits. We strongly encourage families that feel they are eligible for transportation or extended day reduced tuition to fill out the online free and reduced meal application. The links can be found below.
