Welcome May! ¡Bienvenido mayo!
From the Principal
Hello Inlet View Families and Friends,
It is hard to believe that the school year is already coming to a close. This year has indeed been a whirlwind! As we wrap up, I would like to take a few moments to personally extend a thank you to our incredible school staff, who works very hard daily to guide our children and help them learn and grow. I would also like to thank our PTA board and our parent volunteers for the support and dedication to help make this year closer to normal after almost two rough years of the pandemic. Finally, to all our parents, I would like to thank you for trusting us with your children. I'm sure I will miss all and each one of you. You're truly a wonderful school community and, "like others say," a true gem in downtown Anchorage.
I want to give you one last update before school is out. The intent is for you to stay informed and make plans for your summer without worrying about school stuff.
Here are the main points:
- End of Year Events: (Check the calendar below for more details)
- Last Library Checkout is May 6 with all books due back on May 13th
- IB Assembly awards is Tuesday, May 17th at 9:15 (K-3) & 10:00 (4-6)
- Sixth Grade Promotion Ceremony is Tuesday, May 17th at 11:00
- The last day for students is Thursday, May 19th. Students will bring home their report cards on that day, and we will have a school-wide BBQ from 11:00- 1:30
- The last day to bring backpacks is Wednesday, May 18th. Students will not be allowed to bring backpacks to school after that day. Lunch boxes will be allowed.
- Please check the lost and found for any items you may be missing. As teachers clean out their classrooms, many items get placed in the lost and found. With adult supervision, your child can check this area before or after school. The school will donate all items on Friday, May 20th.
- Registration.
Online registration for students returning to Inlet View for the 2022-2023 School Year is open. You can access it by logging into Q-Parent Connection. When you register early, you are helping us determine class rosters, teacher assignments, and teacher allocation. I encourage you to do it and don't wait until the fall.
- Summer School Program
The Anchorage School District is offering the summer school program again this year. The front office has contacted the families whose students qualify for the program and are already enrolled. Please make sure you stay tuned for specific information about buses and schedules. Nevertheless, I want to take the opportunity to encourage all Inlet View families to continue supporting students' learning over the summer. Our summer break is long, and children will have further regression if they don't keep up the momentum we have found since the return of in-school instruction. We know every child has lost instructional opportunities due to the pandemic. My suggestion is to try at least to keep a routine that includes reading every day (20-30 minutes) and practicing math.
Thank you for supporting your children to grow socially, emotionally, and academically.
- Camp Fire.
Please contact the campfire office if you plan to enroll your child for the next school year.
On behalf of the staff at Inlet View Elementary School and myself, we wish everyone a very happy, healthy, and safe summer break.
