Haymarket Happenings
August 2023
Dear Haymarket Elementary School Community,
Welcome to school year 23-24 at Haymarket Elementary School! We hope this letter finds you and your family in good health and high spirits. As we prepare to open our doors once again, we are thrilled to welcome our students back to a year of growth, learning, and new opportunities.
Our dedicated team of educators continues to work hard (even over the summer!) planning exciting and engaging learning experiences for your child. We are committed to providing a safe, nurturing, and supportive environment that fosters academic excellence and character development.
At Haymarket ES, we believe that every child is capable of greatness, and our mission is to help them reach their full potential. Our comprehensive curriculum is designed to inspire curiosity, critical thinking, and creativity, empowering students to become lifelong learners.
We are grateful for your unwavering support here at Haymarket ES. As we move forward, we will continue to prioritize the well-being of our students and staff. We encourage open communication between school and home, and we value your partnership in your child’s education. Together, we can provide the best support for their growth and success. Should you have any questions or concerns throughout the school year, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us. We are here to listen and assist in any way we can.
We are eager to see the bright smiles and eager faces of our students back in the classrooms. With your continued support and enthusiasm, we are confident that this school year will be a memorable and successful one for all.
We use a variety of methods to communicate important information to our families. These include email, phone, and text blasts. Please be sure that your contact information is accurate in ParentVUE and that there are no blocks in place. Please take time to read our monthly newsletters that go out at the beginning of each month. These newsletters contain important updates for events and celebrations!
Thank you once again for choosing Haymarket ES as your partner in education. Together, we will make this a remarkable year of growth, learning, and achievement.
On Behalf of Our Haymarket Family,
Mr. Baldwin, Mrs. Mills, and Mrs. Shore
ParentVUE and Back to School Packet
ParentVUE is a tool that gives parents and guardians access to their child’s bus information, class schedules, grades, attendance information, SOL scores, and more.
The Back to School Packet is available in ParentVUE and should be completed by Friday, September 15. In completing this packet, parents/guardians will update emergency cards, contact information, and complete annual policy reviews and acknowledgments. The information you provide will allow school staff to ensure your students’ safety this school year, so please double check to make sure all information is accurate. Parents/guardians will need to complete the Back to School Packet before accessing student information in ParentVUE.
New Bell Times
This is a friendly reminder that there is a light change to arrival and dismissal times this year.
9:10am - doors open
9:20am - Tardy Bell
4:00pm - End of the day
Please do not drop kids off early or leave them at the front door as we don't have any supervision until 9:10am. We also respectfully ask that everyone adheres to arrival/dismissal procedures to ensure everyone gets here and leaves safely. Parking on the left side of the school and walking your child to the front door is not permitted as we are dismissing hundreds of students from buses at that time in the inner loop.
Teacher and Bus Assignments
As a reminder, teacher and bus assignments will be available in ParentVUE tomorrow, Friday, August 11th. As enrollments can change up until the first day of school, parents are encouraged to check for any changes prior to the first day of school, which is Monday, August 21, 2023.
Please download the "Here Comes the Bus" app to get live updates on bus locations and delays.

Meal Applications Available Now
Meals are available free for eligible students in Prince William County Public Schools. In order to receive these benefits, you must apply for meal assistance every year. Applications filed last year are only good for the first few days of school. Children from households that meet Federal Income Guidelines shown in the online application below are eligible for free meals. Online applications are typically processed within 48 hours of submission.
Households receiving SNAP or TANF for their children or who have foster children may not have to fill out an application. School officials will notify those households of children who do not need to apply. If you do not receive notification by August 25, 2023, you must contact the Food and Nutrition Department, or submit an application.
