Epiphany - also known as Three Kings' Day - is a Christian feast day which falls on 6 January. It is a special date for many Christians as it's when people celebrate how a star led the Magi - also known as the Three kings or the Wise Men - to visit the baby Jesus after he had been born. 'Epiphany' comes from the Greek word meaning 'to reveal', as it is when the baby Jesus was 'revealed' to the world. This is why you might hear people say they've had an epiphany, when they've just realised something.

Matthew tells on the leaders in Jerusalem to warn us against allowing dogma to close the door on growth in faith. He portrays the wandering Magi as guides to Emmanuel, God with us. Matthew encourages us to cultivate the humility and openness necessary to discover something bigger, deeper, more mysterious than our best teachings or wildest imaginings ...

"Epiphany" refers to a manifestation of God or an insight into the deep meaning of something. An epiphany is a happening, not an activity or decision. We may journey like the Magi seeking something, but epiphany is beyond our control. Epiphany happens to people willing to have their minds changed. Epiphany is an experience of grace; for those who will receive it, it is an experience of God with us until the end of the age.

Kindergarten to Grade 6

Hello from Mrs.Oikonen!

Welcome back and Happy New Year! I hope your Christmas break was restful and filled with love and beautiful memories! I can't wait to hear and share all of the wonderful stories and see all of those smiling faces!

For the next 2 weeks, I will be doing individual meets on Tuesday. Please sign up for one block for your child. I will be listening to your child read.

I will be adding another Literacy Group Meeting- Literacy Group 3. This group will focus on Phonemic Awareness. This meeting will be approximately 15 minutes long, Monday through to Thursday. Please check the January calendar for the specific times and if your child will be involved in this group.

For the month of January, Buddy Meets will look different. We will have 2 groups K-2 and grades 3-6. Please check the January calendar for the times for each group. We will be deciding on activities together for these 2 meets.
