Hubbard Woods Update
June 5, 2023
Principal Update
Hubbard Woods Families,
How is it our last week of school? Thank you for partnering with us to make the year successful. We are so fortunate to have such an amazing school community. For those families that are "graduating" from Hubbard Woods, we will miss you and we thank you for all that you have contributed to our HW family over the years.
It will be a busy summer for our renovations and construction at Hubbard Woods. We had a festive groundbreaking ceremony last week. See the picture below! Please note that our playground will be closed for the summer.
I wish you all a wonderful summer. If you need to find me, I will be housed at Carleton Washburne in June and August. It will be exciting to see how HW looks in the fall after our first summer of renovations!
Sincerely,
Beth Carmody
Medication Pickup
As we are getting close to the end of the school year, just a reminder that all medication must be picked up by a parent/guardian by the day of school, unless the child is self carry for their emergency medication. Please wait to pick up emergency medication (epi pens, inhalers, Benadryl, seizure medication, etc) until after all field trips are completed and closer to the last day of school. If your child has any over the counter medication, feel free to pick it up as soon as possible.
As described on our Medication Permit Procedure and Guidelines, " At the end of the school year parents will be notified to pick up their child's medication. Any student medication must be picked up by the last day of school. Any students medication remaining in the buildings at the conclusion of the last day of student attendance will be discarded at the end of the day with an administrator present."
Thank you Nurse Ashley

NEW EPISODE of Winnetka Voices
Episode #7: Tips on Supporting Young Readers & Preventing the Summer Slide
Dr. Kelly Tess, Superintendent, speaks to middle school reading specialists Sheri Johnston and Suzanne Savard about how to best foster childrens’ literacy during the summer months. Along with summer reading recommendations, they provide tips on what may support your child to grow in confidence in their reading skills–whether they are an avid or reluctant reader. You may be surprised by how simple and natural supporting your child’s literacy during summer break can be.
