We are happy to see Telesis Academy promote Down Syndrome Awareness this month! Please speak with your teachers and principal and encourage them to promote disability awareness at their schools.

Our RUSD Adult Transition students had their first coffee cart grand opening on 9/21/22! Our students sold coffee and bagged up treats. They were working very hard. They sold treats and coffee at the District office. Everyone was so happy at how well our students did. We are going to try to do this on a monthly basis!

If your kid wants to go home after the first house, that’s fine. If your kid wants to take his costume off and keep going in his pajamas, that’s fine. If your kid decides to not wear the costume in the first place, that’s fine. If your kid decides that going trick or treating just isn’t going to happen this year, THAT’S FINE!

This Halloween may end with a giant haul of candy after trick or treating for hours. It may end with handing out candy from the security of your own home. The important thing is to have fun. Besides, you can always try again next year!

Although we don’t always love the special needs parenting journey we are on, there are plenty of things we are thankful for. By focusing on the things we are thankful for, we can set aside our worries and constant striving, and simply rest in the good things we do have. And when you start counting those blessings, you’ll see both big and little things around you to be thankful for, and it will fill your heart with some much needed contentedness, joy, and peace in your special needs parenting journey. We are thankful for our children, their progress, and our community.
