From Dr. Gruman
Dear Northwest Families,
We have had a busy week with students heading to Wichita for state music and wrestling! We are so proud of how those groups are representing NW! Last weekend we enjoyed a truly amazing musical production - Bravo to all involved who made that show possible! We were excited to see so many families, students, and community patrons join us for those shows.
We enjoyed an awesome Sweetheart Assembly on Tuesday. Our Cougar Pride was showing and our students were energized!! We have the Sweetheart Dance on Saturday night in the Northwest Cafeteria from 8-11 pm. We look forward to crowning our Sweetheart Court on Saturday night at the dance as well.
Looking ahead to next week - we will have sub-state basketball for boys' and girls' teams. We hope you can join us for those games once the brackets are finalized this weekend. Our spring sports practices begin on Monday, Feb. 26th - students will need a completed physical form on file prior to joining practice. Students can pick up the packet in the main office.
We look forward to our upcoming full week of learning and hope you enjoy a wonderful weekend!
All the best,
Dr. Lisa Gruman

Did You Know?
Did you know that After Prom is more than just a fun party? Did you know that there is a much bigger goal that we should ALL get behind?
After Prom is a party with a PURPOSE - this event is designed to keep our students and broader community SAFE in the hours after prom. After Prom takes the long-view: it’s about keeping our kids alive and allowing them to celebrate with their friends and classmates in a responsible, fun, healthy way. It’s about making sure they make good choices that night so that they can step confidently and boldly into their futures!
Approximately 600 students will have a safe, drug and alcohol-free environment to enjoy casino and carnival games, inflatables, food, music, and AMAZING PRIZES (things like event tickets, laptops and other electronics, kayaks, airline vouchers, tons of college essentials, and MUCH MORE)!
To make this event happen, we rely on the support of individuals, organizations, businesses, and most of all our own SMNW school community. Without generous donations, we would not be able to make SMNW After Prom THE PLACE TO BE on prom night!
If you currently have an upperclassman, the plea is immediate. If you have an underclassmen, chances are there is a junior or senior who they look up to in athletics, choir or band, theater, or a club or organization. Let’s ALL join together to make After Prom the fun, safe, affordable, and SMART choice for our SMNW students on April 20! Visit the AFTER PROM WEBSITE where you will find info on sponsorship opportunities and links to make a contribution. We are ONE NORTHWEST!
Want to help out but don't know where to begin?! PTSA wants YOUR clothing!
