LVES November 1, 2024
Student Holiday November 4th & 5th
Time for UIL!
Lago Vista Elementary is excited about UIL! We will have our annual Kick Off Rally on Thursday, November 7 for Grades 2-3 during their lunch times. Sign-up sheets will be posted at the Elementary campus the week of November 11, and students can begin signing up for events in which they would like to compete. Below is the list of UIL events and coaches for 2nd and 3rd Grades. Students may sign up for more than one event. You can also visit the UIL website for more information and details regarding each event.
Coaches will form their teams, and practices will begin after Thanksgiving Break. The coach of each event will notify students and parents of their practice/try-out schedule. Practice times for some events will be integrated into the school day, and others will require after school practices.
We will not be traveling to another school district for our competition. Instead, we will hold our own Lago Vista Elementary UIL Meet during the school day on Wednesday, February 5, 2025 for Grades 2-3 at the Elementary campus. More details will be provided at a later date.
Please discuss UIL with your children and encourage them to try-out for the event (or events) that interest them. You can also visit the UIL website for details and information regarding each event. https://www.uiltexas.org/aplus/events

In 2020, our amazing Lago Vista ISD community made a powerful investment in our students’ futures by approving Proposition A! Thanks to this bond, we’ve added vital academic spaces, expanded our CTE facilities, and introduced a dedicated CTE wing that includes hands-on spaces for Health Science Nursing and Culinary Arts! These improvements address student enrollment growth, modernize our facilities, and ensure our students have access to top-tier educational programs. Huge thanks to our Lago Vista ISD community for believing in our students and their potential! #VikingExcellence #lagovistaisd #weallrow #lagovistaproud #LagoVistaProud #InvestingInOurFuture #CTEExcellence
Help erase school lunch balances for students in the Viking Nation! Each generous donation will lift a financial burden from our community and will allow Lago Vista ISD to focus resources on supporting student success.

Thank you for helping us ensure that every child has the opportunity to thrive!

NEXT STEPS:
Once approved as a school volunteer, Brandi Sharrock will reach out to all WatchDOGS to coordinate training and next steps. We can't wait to work with you this year!
Our goal in Lago Vista ISD is to ensure that every student benefits as much as possible from the great teaching and learning that happen here every day. When your child misses school, they miss out on learning opportunities that simply can't be replicated. That's why this year, we are encouraging all parents to help our students "Strive for 5!" — aim for five or fewer missed days for your child this school year. Of course, if your child is sick, please keep them home. However, we ask that you try to plan vacations and other activities around our school calendar to minimize the loss of valuable instructional time.
In addition to missed learning opportunities, many parents also may not realize that our school's funding from the State is directly tied to daily attendance. Each day your child is present, the school receives about $37. While $37 might not seem significant on its own, it adds up quickly. Last year, the District's funding was reduced by over $700,000 due to student absences. This loss of funds impacts our ability to hire more teachers, reduce class sizes, and further enhance the learning environment for all students.
We appreciate your help in reducing avoidable absences so that your child — and all of our students — can take full advantage of the excellent instruction we offer every day.
Dr. Suzy Lofton-Bullis Deputy Superintendent, Lago Vista ISD
Attendance Reminders
- The tardy bell rings at 7:45. Instruction begins immediately at this time.
- Official attendance is taken each day at 9:25. If your child is not physically present at that time, they are counted absent.
- All attendance notes should be given to your child's teacher or emailed to Christine Harris at charris@lagovistaisd.net. Notes should be returned within 3 school days of the absence or appointment.
- Typically, the later in the school day you can schedule needed appointments, the better. You definitely want to avoid the 9:25 time frame if possible.

Lago Vista ISD is now using mySchoolBucks, an online payment service to manage your student's meal account. You can securely fund your student's account via credit card, debit card or your checking account. You will be able to review purchases, see current balance, and receive low balance alerts. The account options are flexible - make a one payment, set up a recurring payment, or set a payment schedule when the account reaches a specified amount.
First, create an account on mySchoolBucks and add your students. If you have multiple children, you can make multiple deposits for each child during your transaction. Next, make a payment. The deposit amount can be placed against a credit card, debit card or your checking account. All payments are securely processed using our highly secure website and encryption. All payments are quickly credited to your students account.
If you have any questions or problems, you may contact Jennifer Porter, Director of School Nutrition Services at (512) 267-8300 x1516.

MySchoolBucks - Autopay & Negative Balance Issues
Have you had an issue with your students "MySchoolBucks - Autopay" not processing? There is a reason this is happening.
When setting up or updating the Autopay feature within your student's MySchoolBucks account, there is one thing to keep in mind. If the account is in a negative state, the Autopay will not start processing until the account is brought current and remains current for at least 24 hours.
You will need to make a one time payment either online (credit card or bank draft) or at the cafeteria registers (cash or check only) in order to bring the account current. Once the account is at or above $0.00 then the Autopay should begin processing.
Note: If an account is cleared this morning and is showing $0.00 as the balance but your student purchases a meal today during lunch, the account will go back into a negative state causing the Autopay to not work. Typically the AutoPay processes overnight, so once it tries to process tonight it will not since the account went back into a negative state. Be sure to clear it and add enough to get them through their day.
