2022/2023 Awards Ceremony
Our 2022-23 Awards Ceremony will take place on Monday, October 23, 2023.
The grade 8 (last year’s grade 7s) award ceremony will take place during period 5, starting at 1:15 p.m., and the grade 9 (last year’s grade 8s) award ceremony will be held during period 6, starting at 2:10 p.m. We have made seating arrangements to accommodate parents who would like to join us for this special occasion. However, due to seating constraints, we kindly ask that you limit the number of guests to two people per award recipient. Please note that the event will also be live streamed for those who cannot attend.
We understand the significance of celebrating your child's achievements, and we are excited that this year’s ceremony will provide the opportunity for our award recipients to be celebrated by both their family and their classmates.
A email will be sent out on Wednesday, October 11, 2023 to those families who have a student who will be receiving an award.
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation regarding these changes. We look forward to celebrating your student's achievements on October 23rd. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Thank you for your continued support!
Athletics Corner 🏅
In athletics this week, our teams have had a pretty great week! Our senior volleyball teams defeated St Andre Bessette on Tuesday and our junior teams took on OLPH at home. Our junior boys won, and our junior girls fought hard but lost to the 1st place team, OLPH. All our teams are in tournaments this weekend: seniors show off their stuff at SAL, the juniors compete at Ardrossan, and our junior b teams take on Southpointe.
Next week gym time will be affected by Parent Teacher interviews – so stay tuned for the Athletics Schedule below and on our website to see when all practices will be.
Our running club will continue to meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays, weather permitting! Stay tuned to daily announcements for updates.

Navigating ADHD: Understanding, Managing, and Thriving
Join us for a Parent session at Sherwood Heights Junior High on WEDNESDAY NOVEMBER 29TH at 6:30pm.
We will be hosting ADHD Edmonton’s President Rachel Rogers who is a psychologist that specializes in supporting families with children managing ADHD. Rachel has worked with Edmonton Public Schools as a teacher, counselor, and Psychologist on multidisciplinary teams and is a wealth of knowledge to parents.
Rachel will be talking about the history of neurodivergences, what is ADHD and the brain, will briefly talk about the role of medication, multimodal treatment, strategies, and self-regulation. She will also talk about ADHD Edmonton and the supports available (there’s a lot!) and finish with Q&A to address questions. This session is open to caregivers and professionals.
This session will be held in-person at Sherwood Heights as well as a virtual option.
Student Support at Sherwood Heights
Mental Health has been identified as an EIPS priority this year and in response, Sherwood Heights has introduced several new ways to access student support.
Mrs. Jessica Moen is in the role of School Based Social Worker this year at SWH. Mrs. Moen’s primary role is to facilitate connections among family, school, and community to assist with positive growth. She works as part of the multidisciplinary team to help our families set goals, integrate interventions, plan strategies and arrange resources that will help students be successful in school, at home, and in their community. She offers support services in a variety of formats (individuals, families, and groups), in a variety of settings (school, home, community settings) and is the primary connection with many community agencies. Mrs. Moen can be found in her office beside the drama room and beside the vending machines.
Referrals for ALL student support services can be done using any of the following ways:
Scan the QR code posted around the school and on the Student Support Bulletin

School fees for the 2023-2024
School fees for the 2023-2024 school year will be posted on the PowerSchool Parent Portal. All fees are due within 30 days of being posted. Throughout the year, fees are often added to cover the costs for various activities, such as field trips, extracurricular activities, and late, damaged or lost textbooks.
To access your fee information, simply log in to the PowerSchool Parent Portal and go to “Student Fees.” There you can view fees and pay them online using a credit card. Make sure to monitor your child’s account on an ongoing basis.
For more information about school fees, waivers and payment deadlines, visit eips.ca/schools/fees. And, if you have questions, think there is an error or need help creating a PowerSchool Parent Portal account, contact your child’s school directly - reach out to our Business Manager Candace Lyles to discuss questions and options candace.lyles@eips.ca
NOTE: Pursuant to Board Policy 23: School Fees and Administrative Procedure 505: School and Administrative Fees, EIPS will forward any unpaid 2021-22 fee amounts to a collection agency. To prevent this from happening, remember to pay your fees before August 31, 2024.
