October 16 - October 22
Way to go Parkview Band Members!
This past Wednesday, we had students audition for the Georgia Music Educators Association, All-State jazz band. Two of the students who auditioned, have advanced to the second round of auditions. This is a significant accomplishment for the students and our school, as we have not been represented in the Allstate Jazz Band in over a decade.
Congratulations to these two outstanding musicians and leaders in our program:
Aren Dosani - 12 - Trumpet
Kirk Sones - 11 - Drums
National Technical Honor Society
On Wednesday October 11th, National Technical Honor Society (NTHS) inducted 21 members into the Parkview Chapter.
NTHS slogan is" Excellence in America's Workforce Begins with Excellence in Workforce Education" Our newest members are committed to the 8 attributes of: Knowledge, Skill, Honesty, Service, Responsibility, Scholarship, Citizenship, and Leadership.
As the nation's highest award for excellence in Career and Technical Education, NTHS awards over $300,000 in scholarships to deserving students who are committed to furthering their education in a chosen career through workforce readiness.
Dress Code Reminders
As temperatures drop and winter approaches, we would like to remind everyone of our dress code policy. To ensure the safety and security of all individuals within the building, no hats, hoods, or headwear are allowed. This helps us to identify each person in the building if necessary. Additionally, blankets or pillows cannot be used during school hours. We ask that you wear an extra layer of clothing or bring a jacket for chilly mornings or classrooms. Remember, hats, hoods, headwear, blankets, and pillows are not allowed inside the building. Thank you for your cooperation.
On Wednesday, October 25th all 10th grade students and any 9th and 11th grade students that have already registered will take the PSAT/NMSQT (Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test). Scores from the PSAT/NMSQT give insights into each student’s academic strengths, along with areas they can work on while still in high school.
This fall the PSAT/NMSQT will be administered in a new digital format that will provide an overall easier testing experience for students. Students will take the PSAT/NMSQT on Wednesday, October 25th using their GCPS issued Chromebook.
