Coach’s Message
Star’s Football Family
Wow! What a week to be a North Star. I do not think we have ever had a more impactful week in my ten years. I first want to thank every parent, coach, and player for their investment in our program. It is humbling to see such care and love for this program. In our program, we talk about the North Star Mentality and the values that it is built upon. So many times, we call attention to our lack of execution in these values. Negativity is easy, but in our program, we fight like he** to keep positivity at the forefront. Here are the highlights of our North Star Mentality at its finest.
Investment: Over 200 future Stars and current players and families came together for our Future Stars Kick Off. The night was punctuated by alumni Ben Furtney speaking to the crowd. He highlighted his journey as a Star and assured the incoming class and current stars that they would always have a friend in him. Truly powerful to see a young man connect with such passion and care. Thank you, Ben!
Preparation: This past Friday was our last team activity of the off-season. Thirty weeks of training four days a week for over an hour each day! Our kids are ready! They have made considerable gains in all aspects of our four quadrant development. Each player is on their path but preparing for the greater purpose. These boys are a special group. Just wait!
Accountability: On Wednesday, we had a tremendous turnout at our bi-monthly study table. I want to thank Mike Tosaw for becoming our academic advisor. His efforts are making an impact far beyond the field. I also want to applaud our boys who are working so tirelessly to improve their grades and finish the year out positively. It is not always easy, and I appreciate their effort to improve themselves, even when it is hard!
Selfless: Our leadership academy culminated this past Wednesday with Coach Jim Bloch. For the past eight weeks, our team has collaborated and connected. The only goal is to help improve our team dynamics and build our culture. It is extra time, extra reading, and extra work, but their efforts will make us a better program. Thank you, boys!
Leadership: Our staff met for our first ever Stars Staff Summit on Saturday night. Each coach was in charge of creating a presentation and presenting it. I was blown away by our coaches' professionalism and attention to detail. It is not easy to stand up in front of 20 other grown men and talk about the who, what, where, why, and how you coach. But, this was the highlight of my coaching career until this point. Job well done!
Finally, as we exit the school year and finals loom in the distance, our football program will be taking our foot off the gas. I want our kids to focus on academics and finish the year out with a sprint and not a jog. I want them to enjoy their final days and rest. I want there to be an excitement to return to the field in June. If anyone needs anything, please do not hesitate to contact me. In the meantime, please refer to our summer checklist to ensure that your son or daughter is ready when the bell tolls on June 6th!

Elite Leader
Week 10 MATTHEW HAWN
Matthew Hawn is this week's Elite Leader. Matthew has done a fantastic job of representing the North Star Mentality. His work ethic on and off the field is impeccable. Unfortunately, for the Stars, Matthew and his family are relocating to New York next year. We will miss them and wish them nothing but the best. Matthew, we will keep an eye out for you and I am sure you will do great things.
