He pānui o te tumuaki - A note from Whaea Alicia
Welcome back to term 4. This term is shaping up to be exciting and fulled with loads of fun and learning.
Our tamariki have been busy continuing the focus on Kaitiakitanga - guardianship and caring for our whēnua. Last Friday we spent the afternoon out in our gardens weeding and tidying up the grounds. We have a large pile of mulch in the back carpark that we intend to cloak the ground beneath our beautiful trees with. And we are wanting to build a series of compost bins using pallets to collect our green waste into. If any whānau members would like to help us with this we would welcome the help. Toroa are heading to another farm within the community on Tuesday to do more mahi on the land.
Our student council Star Force have met and they have initiated a system to help manage the busy high demand of our tennis court. They have created a timetabled system for activities on the court - ka rawe Star Force.
Hockey has begun and the children had their first games at the Kaikōura High School turf, thank you to Rachel Hills and Colleen for coaching the team.
Our pool is ready for swimming in, many thanks to Lloyd our caretaker for keeping on top of the pool wintering and bringing the pool back for summer. Send togs to school with the children especially if we continue to have such beautiful weather.
It was a sad to say farewell to Miss Beckie Southgate, she has been an amazing addition to our team and brought so much joy and learning to Tītī. We wish Miss Southgate all the best in her new career as a teacher and hope to have her back with us relieving in our classes.
Apologies for the delay in this pānui release I have had a few technical difficulties over the weekend with this platform.
I hope you all have a wonderful long weekend and we look forward to seeing you at the assembly this Friday 4th November.

Our lessons run after school during term time and run from mid-November through to mid December, then start again usually in the second week of term 1. We aim for 20 lessons in total.
Each swimmer is allocated to a level and coach, but we use the first couple of weeks to assess and sometimes need to adjust groups. Each group has two lessons per week (apart from Senior Squad, which has three).
Groups either swim Tues & Thurs OR Mon & Weds. You can indicate your preference at registration. We always do our best to fit everyone in but cannot always cater to those who have other commitments.
All lessons are at Wa Kaukau / Kaikoura Aquatic Centre (off Scarborough St) in either the learner pool or the 25m pool. The pool is heated but it is outdoors so lessons may be cancelled or postponed in bad weather.
Beginner lessons (learner pool) are 25mins, Intermediate are 35-45 mins depending on level. Our squad swimmers train for 45-90mins depending on level.
Places are limited and confirmed on payment. Payment must be made prior to the first lesson.
Registrations will be open for the first two weeks of term 4. once we have sorted groups, each coach will contact parents to let you know lesson days/times.
Any late registrations will be added to a waiting list, and as spaces open we will offer those out.
