Winter Fest 2022
Happy Holi-ʻiwa Days! We are excited to see our families at our winter family event on Wednesday, November 30 from 3:00 PM- 5:00 PM. We are so excited to have different activities and games for our students. When families check in, students will be given scripts that they can use.
Please bring some cash so that you can buy some of our items for sale. We are looking forward to seeing you all on Wednesday afternoon!
Emergency Drills
This Tuesday, our students were able to participate in our various emergency drills. We were able to go on our tsunami evacuation walk after two years of modified drills. Our students did great on the tsunami walk! Our estimated time for our walk was around 20 minutes. We are appreciative of our teachers and staff for all of their hard work in preparing our students for this week's drills.
Kindergarten: Zoo Field Trip
by Ms. Brooks
Kindergarten had their first Field trip last week! This was very exciting since this year is the first field trips since covid! They went to the zoo and had so much fun. They did a tour around the zoo with a guide who taught them many facts about the different animals. Some of the favorite animals were the rhinos, snakes, monkeys and lion! Kindergarten can’t wait for the next field trip.
Dole Plantation Field Trip
by Ms. Sam
The students in I-1 were able to go on a fun field trip to the Dole Plantation. We rode the train and learned about the fruits, other than pineapple, that are grown there. Then, they got to spend some money at the gift store that they had earned doing jobs around school. We had a blast and got some cool souvenirs to remember the trip by! The students worked really hard to be ready for this field trip and they had a fantastic time on the new adventure!
Third Grade: Zoo Field Trip
by Mr. Baker
Third grade had the opportunity to visit the Honolulu Zoo. It was their first time riding on a bus all the way to town, and many of them were excited and thrilled to have that experience as well as checking out all the cool animals at the zoo. They got to learn about the different habitats and ways animals from around the world live, and can't wait to have another excursion experience with their classmates.
Literacy Corner
Upcoming Book Fair
We hope you can join us for our upcoming book fair in our school Conference Room (formerly known as the Tech Center in the Library).
Students will come with their classes to browse, make a wish list, and purchase their items. Parents are allowed to come after school until 3:00 PM on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday to shop with their child(ren). On Wednesday, November 30th, our Book Fair will be open from 3:00 PM- 5:00 PM (during our Winter Fest).
This year, students may continue to pay with cash or use eWallet—your child’s digital payment account. Before the Fair, set up eWallet for worry-free, cash-free purchases. Anyone can contribute! Share each child’s eWallet so friends and family can add funds and give your kids more books to enjoy.
Grapeful Me
Our students will be able to practice their gratitude next week by filling out sheets for who they are grateful for. Students will be able to enter a $10 Scholastic book fair raffle for participating in the gratitude challenge. Our theme is based on the book below.
We have also attached an activity that you can do with your child(ren) during the break.
Gratitude Writing Prompts
November is a month of gratitude. Use these writing prompts below to reflect on gratitude and create a culture of kindness around our school and community.
