News from CCSD15 Board of Education
April 14, 2021
Board Recognition
The Board recognized our wonderful Nutrition Services and Transportation Departments for all their hard work this year. Thanks to our dedicated Nutrition Services and Transportation teams, District 15 has been able to serve our families a truly astonishing 1,258,544 meals between March 16, 2020, through March 16, 2021!
In addition to meal service, the transportation department also helped deliver much needed technology such as Chromebooks, hotspots and chargers to families who were not able to pick them up at school.
Many thanks to employees within both departments who put the needs of students first and made this happen for our families!
Beyond Just Boundaries
Thank you so much to everyone who was able to join us for one of our Beyond Just Boundaries community engagement sessions. We know how busy you are and we truly appreciate your time and thoughtful feedback about the 9 Priorities we shared with you.
If you were unable to participate, use this link to view one of the sessions (all of the sessions reviewed the same information) in order to listen in and learn about improvement efforts we are hoping to bring to D15.
The next Board of Education meeting is a Committee of the Whole and will be held at WRS on Wednesday, April 21, 2021. As we have done in the past, the meeting will be available for viewing on YouTube. We hope you tune in!
National Blue Ribbon School Nomination
Congratulations to Mr. Dietz, Principal, Mr. Rice, Assistant Principal and the talented staff at Walter R. Sundling Junior High School for their nomination as a National Blue Ribbon School in the category of “Exemplary Achievement Gap Closing Schools”. Regardless of whether or not they are ultimately deemed a blue ribbon school, we are beyond proud of WRS staff and students.

2020-2021 Revised Official School Calendar
The 2020-2021 official school calendar presently has five emergency days built into it as required by the Illinois School Code (105ILCS 5/10-19). Emergency days must be made up prior to the end of the school year. District 15 did not use any emergency days during the 2020-2021 school year, but instead used virtual learning, therefore, the last day of school for Grades 1-8 will be Thursday, May 27, 2021. The Classroom Teachers’ Council (CTC) has been provided a copy of the revised calendar and concurs to the recommended changes as presented.
