A message to Eastview students who park in the lots east of the tennis/pickleball courts:
The City of Apple Valley is planning a Mid-Winter Festival Community Celebration at Johnny Cake Ridge Park West behind Eastview High School on Saturday, February 4th and will be setting up on Friday, February 3rd.
Students who normally park in the lots east of the tennis/pickleball courts will now need to park in front of the aquatic center or the lots along Johnny Cake Ridge road on Friday, February 3rd. Parking in the EVHS lots without a permit will result in a $20 fine for the parking violation.

Current sophomores and current juniors are eligible to complete a Candidate Form. It is strongly encouraged that the eligible candidate have a cumulative 3.8 GPA or higher.

FCCLA STAR Event - Recycle Your Plastic Bags
FCCLA members are doing a sustainability STAR event and are collecting plastic bags. They have put a box (Home Depot-decorated) similar to this one in front of the sanitation stations in each cluster office to collect any plastic bags you, your friends or neighbors might be wanting to get rid of.

EVCF Looking For Volunteers
The Eastview Community Foundation is looking for volunteer readers to help with this year’s senior scholarship application selection process. It takes a lot of volunteers to give away $100,000 to our EVHS seniors! Training will be provided, followed by independent reading and scoring of student essays. Essays will be reviewed from February 5 – February 25. Parents/guardians of seniors from the Class of 2023 are not eligible due to potential conflict of interest. Need a Previous EVHS Yearbook?
The EVHS Library has an archive of yearbooks which are kept to chronicle our history. In addition, we have also received extra copies over the years that have not been picked up or used for other purposes. It is time to downsize these extra copies. Do you have a grad who didn’t get a yearbook or know a neighbor who would appreciate the memories? You can find a complete list of extra copies available here listed by year. If you would like to request one of these copies, please email evhs.learningcommons@apps.district196.org and we will set the copy aside for you to pick up. Feel free to share the link with anyone who may be interested. All books can be picked up at Eastview High School during school hours.

Graduation ads are full-color, optional congratulatory messages to graduating seniors from their families. They include the student's name, a baby picture, and a short message.
Families are given the opportunity to purchase a Senior Graduation Advertisement for $45.00. We accept ads and ad content through online submission only. Grad Ad submissions are due on February 1, 2023.

EVHS All-Night Senior Party Tickets On Sale Now!
Graduating seniors are invited to attend the 2023 All-Night Senior Party, a chemical free, lock-in which takes place the night of graduation, Saturday June 3rd, 2023 from 10:00 pm – 4:00am at EVHS.
Each year the All-Night Senior Party is a highlight for the graduating seniors with at least 80% of the class attending. This is an “Everything Included” night of fun! Entertainment, Food, Prizes, Games, Casino, and MORE! It is the place to be on graduation night! On February 8th there will be a party kick-off event during the school day where the theme of the party will be revealed to the senior class! Annual Environmental College and Career Fair - February 14th, 6-8 PM
The School of Environmental Studies in Apple Valley, Minnesota will be holding their annual Environmental College and Career Fair on Tuesday, Feb. 14 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Over 20 colleges and environmental organization have confirmed participation.
This event is an arena style "fair" in which colleges provide information about their institutions and offer college/career guidance to students. There is no pre-registration and the event is open to the public.

Mark Your Calendars: In-School Pre-ACT and ACT - April 4th
On Tuesday, April 4th all 10th and 11th grade students will have the opportunity to take the Pre-ACT (10th) and ACT (11th) test at Eastview High School. Students in 10th and 11th grade will report to school at their regularly scheduled time. Students in grades 9 and 12 will access instruction asynchronously.
*No sign-up will be required. Look for more information to follow in March.
Eagan Community Foundation Scholarship Application Now Open
The Eagan Community Foundation scholarship application process IS NOW OPEN and will close the evening of February 24th at 11:59 PM. They will be awarding roughly 110 scholarships totaling over $120,000.
Every student is encouraged to submit an application! Awards are based on a variety of criteria including community involvement, those with military parents, those who have persevered through hardships in life, participation in sports and school activities, academic merit and financial need. Only scholarships that are based on financial need require a copy of the front page of your Student Aid Report (SAR) from the FAFSA. Be sure and file your FAFSA by the scholarship deadline.

Ready, Set, FAFSA Series, February 2023
This February, the Minnesota Office of Higher Education, Minnesota Department of Education, ECMC's The College Place Minnesota, and Minnesota Goes to College are launching a series of financial aid webinars for Minnesota students and families as they prepare for the college-going process. All sessions will have simultaneous interpretation in Spanish, Somali, and Hmong. Attendees will be entered to win a $500 scholarship.
The series, which runs February 7 through 28, will focus on a variety of topics, including general financial aid information, details on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), the Minnesota Dream Act for undocumented students, and other ways to pay for college.

Students should stop by the Counseling Office and get a pass to attend the college/university/military Rep Visit prior to the right visit. These university/college or military visits are small group meetings typically lasting 20/30 minutes. These admission reps are often times the same people that review college applications, so it's a great connection for students.

Eastview Boys Varsity Hockey vs. the Prior Lake Lakers – January 28, 2023
The Lightning were looking to sweep the season series with the Lakers at the Dakota Ice Arena in Prior Lake on Saturday afternoon. The Lightning started the game strong, scoring an even strength goal on a shot from the slot at 3:04 of the 1st period, when Jordan Brothers #11 went 5 hole on the Lakers goalie with assists to John Kisch #5 and Nick Karam #16. Jordan Brothers #11 made it 2-0 at 9:03 at even strength, on a sharp angled shot, with assists to John Kisch #5 and Zach Wooten #9. Shots were 7-7 for the period. Eastview dominated the 2nd period outshooting the Lakers 10-5, and Prior Lake returned the favor outshooting the Lightning 11-4 in the 3rd period. The game ended 2-0 for the Lightning, with Jay Svaren #32 getting the shut out in goal, stopping all 23 Prior Lake shots for the game. Final shots were 23-21 for the Lakers. The Lightning improved to 12-6 on the season and are back at it on Tuesday night in Chaska against the Hawks.
Eastview Wrestling Results - 1/26/23
The Eastview Wrestling team defeated Conference foe Lakeville South on Thursday during Senior Night. Earning pins were P. Lewis, E. Formaneck, A. Baccoli. Earning a Decision was T. Ostler. On Friday the beat Prescott Wisconsin 76-4. Nolan Enderlein defeated the #4 ranked wrestler in Wisconsin by Tech Fall. T. Schmidt earned a pin.

Eastview High School Girls Junior Varsity Basketball beat Prior Lake High School 40-37
The Girls JV Basketball beat Prior Lake 40 - 37 on Friday night.
Eastview JV Boys Hockey
The Eastview JV Boys hockey team played Prior Lake last Saturday. Kaden Goff was in the net and faced 22 shots. Prior Lake got the only goal in the first period. Jaymeson Zackery tied the game up 1 to 1 in the 2nd period. Prior Lake scored the game winning goal in the 3rd period with the final score - 1 to 2, Prior Lake. The JV team plays Gentry on Wednesday (2/1) at 5pm at Apple Valley Sports Arena.
9TH GRADE SPORTS
The Eastview Lightning 9th Grade Wrestling Team competed in the MNGWL Region 4 Qualifier at Farmington on Saturday January 28, 2023.
Lightning wrestlers with a 3-0 record on the day, claiming 1st place and a spot in the MNGWL State Tournament were: Logan Myers (145 lb), Pierce Lewis (152 lb), and Aiden Frost (170 lb). Thomas Schmidt (160 lb) was 3-1 on the day, claimed 2nd place, and also qualified for the 9th Grade State Tournament.
Finishing in 3rd place with a 3-1 record on the day was Aryan Karimnejad (94 lb). Finishing in 4th place with a 2-2 record on the day were Kayan Karimnejad (100 lb) and Ryan Layeux (189 lb). At 8th place with a 2-2 record on the day was Marcus McKinley (120 lb).
Reid George (106 lb) and Walker Miller (132 lb) also competed with valiant effort.
The Eastview Lightning 9th Grade Wrestling Team completed the MNGWL Region 4 Qualifier tournament with 148 team points and overall 4th place team finish. Qualifying wrestlers will compete in the MNGWL State Tournament on Saturday, February 4, 2023 at Champlin Park High School.

New: Emory Speech Tournament Results
After three days of competition, Eastview High School speakers have had a great showing at the Barkley Forum for High Schools Speech and Debate Tournament held at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. Emory is big and competitive...this year, 192 schools competed from 30 different states.
Eastview had two speakers make the final round (top six) in their event:

Faye Zhang, Sixth Place - Extemporaneous Speaking
In addition, the following entries advanced into elimination rounds:
Sahiti Atluri, Semifinalist - Humorous Interpretation
Cailin Mayotte, Semifinalist - Dramatic Interpretation
Nick Zylstra, Quarterfinalist - Extemporaneous Speaking
The team was also well represented by Riley Hetland (Informative Speaking) and Maddy Severson (Dramatic Interpretation.)
