PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE:
Dear Boulder Creek Families,
Many of you have asked, “What are these ‘7 Habits’ my child keeps talking about at home?” It’s a great question! Every day your children are learning the 7 Habits framework. These are tools and skills for developing into young leaders. If your kids are talking about the Habits at home, that means these helpful tools are sticking, even beyond the classroom! Celebrate this with them! Over the next seven weeks of Sunday Messages, I’ll give a quick overview of each habit so you can join the conversation with your students at home.
For now, here is a list of the 7 Habits we will be referencing:
Habit 1: Be Proactive
Habit 2: Begin with the End in Mind
Habit 3: Put First Things First
Habit 4: Think Win-Win
Habit 5: Seek First to Understand then to be Understood
Habit 6: Synergize
Habit 7: Sharpen the Saw
I look forward to reviewing each of these important life habits with you over the coming weeks to help you facilitate conversations with your children about how they are developing their leadership skills.
Sincerely,
Tina Croes

WHAT IS TRANSITIONAL KINDERGARTEN
Welcome to Kindergarten/Transitional Kindergarten (TK) at Boulder Creek!
Historically, Boulder Creek's Transitional Kindergarten (TK) and Kindergarten spots fill up, so it's important to register for the 2024-2025 school year early. Be sure to pass this information along to family and friends who may not know about TK!
California has made Transitional Kindergarten (TK) universally available (although not required). The curriculum and approach in TK are designed to bridge the gap between preschool and elementary school, providing an extra year to acquire kindergarten readiness.
Children who turn 4 years old by June 2nd of the 2023-2024 school year are eligible for Transitional Kindergarten (TK). *Note: Students who turn 4 after June 2, 2024, can submit enrollment forms requesting to enroll in TK early. You will be placed on a waitlist until the fall in order to assess if space is available.
Children who turn 5 years old on or before September 1st are eligible for Kindergarten.
DID YOU KNOW?
DID YOU KNOW?
Boulder Creek teaches our students about bullying behaviors, including cyberbullying. All teachers use social-emotional learning curricula such as Second Step and Leader in Me on a weekly basis. Bullying lessons are embedded in Second Step, and cyberbullying is presented more in-depth each October during Digital Citizenship Week. All of these lessons are reinforced throughout the school year by all staff members.

Parents who may not be aware, your children have many adults on campus they can seek out should they ever have a need to talk with someone about anything at all. Whether they are worried about academics, peer relationships, or anything else, all of our staff – teaching, administrative, counseling, and all other support staff – are here for your children at all times. Please encourage them to come to us whenever they need.

And, If any of our parents possess a special skill you would like to share with children, I encourage you to inquire in the office. We are always open to new ideas!

ANNUAL PARENT SURVEY
Boulder Creek Parents,
Please take a few moments to complete this short, confidential, and anonymous Google Form survey. This is the yearly parent survey that helps us plan, grow, and improve as a school community. Sometimes parents are unsure of how to answer a question as the question may refer to something that is not directly applicable to your child. If you find yourself wondering whether Boulder Creek provides a service, education, or extracurriculars in particular areas, I have linked the Student Parent Handbook and January Bear Facts Newsletter (for first half of year recap) for your reference should you need them while completing the survey.
Our hope is to get 100% parent participation, or as close to it as possible. The higher percentage of responses will give us the best information when navigating our future direction as a school community. The link will be open until February 16, 2024.
Thank you so much for your participation as it is invaluable to the future growth of Boulder Creek!

PARENT PORTAL LOG-IN
All parents, including new parents, should have logged into the Parent Portal at some point already. Why do you need to create a parent account? This is a secure platform through which you will view your child's teacher/class, receive your child’s report card, complete enrollment, and complete the necessary beginning of the year school forms like your child's emergency card. In the future, this is also how state testing results will be communicated.
Click HERE for the link to the parent portal. If you cannot log-in successfully, please call our school's office at 224-4140 or email our Student Services Clerk, Kensey Jones, at kjones@eesd.net. Be sure to keep your log-in information in a safe but accessible place.
