PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Dear Clifford Families,
As the first trimester comes to a close on Thursday, November 10, our dedicated teachers are diligently working on completing the trimester 1 report cards. In the past, the first report card was distributed to parents during the November parent-teacher conferences. However, since we've already conducted our Goal Setting Parent-Teacher conferences, this time, the report cards will be sent home with students on Friday, November 17th.
Teachers will be in touch with you to provide further details on how these report cards will be distributed. We kindly ask that you check your child's backpack or inquire with them about their report card on the 17th. In case your child is absent on that day, they can collect their report card from their teacher upon their return.
Thank you for your continued support and involvement in your child's education.
Kristy Jackson

Ruby Bridges Walk to School Day
Ruby Bridges Walk to School Day is on November 14, 2023. Celebrate Ruby Bridges Walk to School Day (RBWTSD) by walking or rolling to school. In honor of Ruby Bridges Walk to School Day, we celebrate this “Day of Dialogue” by remembering the significance of desegregation in schools. Ruby's simple but courageous act of showing up for school each day played an important part in the civil rights movement. We encourage you to participate in RBWTSD by walking or rolling to school.
Did you know? In September 2021, the California State Senate passed a resolution proclaiming November 14th as Ruby Bridges Walk to School Day? RBWTSD started here in San Mateo County! Back in 2018, the first year of this walk and roll day, 14 schools across the county participated. Now, in 2023, over 30,0000 people across the nation are walking and rolling to school on RBWTSD!
Clifford School Walk & Safety Audit
On Thursday, October 26th, Clifford School actively engaged in a walk audit, bringing together a diverse group of participants including Clifford parents, school administration, district staff, representatives from San Mateo County, San Carlos city planning departments, and the transportation authority.
The primary objective of conducting a school walk audit is to assess and document the pedestrian and bicycle conditions in the vicinity of the school. The aim is to identify potential areas for improvement that will enhance safety and visibility for students and families who walk and roll to school.
During the walk audit, teams collaborated to meticulously observe and record data related to infrastructure, street crossing conditions, as well as traffic circulation and behavior. We extend our gratitude to all those who actively participated in the walk audit and eagerly anticipate the recommendations that will be put forward. These recommendations will play a crucial role in ensuring a safe and secure environment for our students and families both before and after school hours.
If you'd like to provide your feedback or input on before and after-school safety, please refer to the flyer and QR code below.
Parent Volunteers Needed
Please consider taking part in some of these parent volunteer opportunities:
Before & After School Crossing Guard - We are looking for parent volunteers who would be interested in helping us keep the crosswalks on Clifford Avenue safe before and after school. If you are interested, please sign up here. Crossing guard volunteers do not need to have district clearance since they are working before the school day and outside of campus.
Lunch Supervision - We can always use an extra pair of hands and eyes during students' lunch times. If you are interested in volunteering during lunch, please email Vice Principal, Casey Nosky @ cnosky@rcsdk8.net. Lunch volunteers will need Level 2 clearance.
For more information on how to become a cleared volunteer and what the different levels entail, please go to the volunteers page on the district website. Please note: volunteer clearance can take a few weeks. To check if you are a cleared volunteer, please visit or call the school office.
Lost & Found
Our lost and found collection is growing rapidly, brimming with jackets, shirts, sweaters, water bottles, and lunch boxes. We kindly request that you take a moment to visit our lost and found carts, conveniently positioned just outside the school office, to retrieve any items that may belong to your child.
To ensure these belongings find their way back to their rightful owners, please be sure to check the lost and found before Tuesday, November 21. After this date, any unclaimed items will be thoughtfully donated to those in need.
Thank you for your cooperation in reuniting students with their lost possessions.
