Dear Raleigh Hills Community,

This was a very exciting week for us at Raleigh Hills. We were able to welcome part of our school community back in person. It was so moving to see students back inside the building after more than a year. Seeing so many children in person just reinforced how much we can't wait for the day when our whole community can be together again. One of the things I really miss is being able to gather our entire community together for things like concerts and plays. I am really looking forward to doing those things again and am overjoyed that we were able to take our first steps toward that this week. Please enjoy the slideshow of highlights from our first days back with grades K-5.

It is so important that students wear a mask that fits them each day. Please be sure that your student has their mask on as they are heading out the door. If you need a washable, cloth, child-sized mask, let your teacher know and we can provide you with one.

Thanks to the generosity of our PTO, we have gathered quite a nice collection of clothing at Raleigh Hills. We will be opening our own clothes closet on Wednesdays from 10-12 so that families can come and get clothing, shoes, jackets, toiletries and food. We will set up under cover right behind the cafeteria. Please feel free to join us to get some of the essentials that you might need. Available in April on the 14th and 21st.

Soon it may be possible for us to test of COVID right on campus! This is an exciting development. This will be a self-administered nasal swab. Students just need to wipe a q-tip around the inside of their own nose. It is very non-invasive. It doesn't need to go way up in the nasal cavity. However, we need your consent for students to test at school. If you would like to allow your student to test for COVID at Raleigh Hills, please fill out a consent form by following these directions:

• go to this website
• scroll all the way down and click the tab "COVID 19 Testing Information"
• select your language
• print the form, fill out and return it with your child

We will also be sending home paper copies with every student. You can fill it out and have your child carry it back to school. We are excited to provide this service to students and families.

Here in the Beaverton School District, we teach children important skills for getting along with others and doing well in school. In order to help our school be a safe and supportive place where everyone can learn, we also provide age-appropriate health instruction. There will be two primary resources used for this instruction: The Great Body Shop to teach the adopted Oregon Health Standards and fightchildabuse.org to teach sexual abuse prevention in accordance with Erin’s Law. Please read the letters below in your home language so you can learn more about these resources.
