Reduced Library Capacity and Touchless Pass Procedures
Schroeder Library will look a little different this year. Some furnishings have been removed in order to maintain a six foot distance in between people. Library users will be asked not to move furniture. We will also maintain a one way traffic flow where students enter through the east side doors and exit through the west side doors.
Pass Procedures:
In order to keep passes touchless, study hall supervisors will use this form to submit the names of students who are being released from study hall to the library. Please submit the form before sending students down. Because the library will only have seating for 40 users at a time, we are limiting each study hall to four students. Priority should be given to students who need library resources or help from library staff.
New this year, pre-arranged passes will also be required of seniors so that we can limit our numbers. Seniors with empties may get a touchless pass by visiting the library before the start of the school day (8:15-8:45 a.m.). Teachers will have access to library attendance through a shared spreadsheet.
Reopening Guidelines for Materials Handling
- Encourage use of digital texts and digital browsing
- Provide instruction on placing holds in the online library catalog
- Offer circulation desk and curbside pick-up for library materials
- Provide hand sanitizer for library users to use prior to and after handling books and other shared materials
- Quarantine books for 96 hours after they have been returned
- Sanitize shared materials in between use (staplers, hole punches, Chromebook chargers)
Placing Holds and Using Curbside Pick-up
Faculty and staff need to add an underscore between their first and last names to log in. For example, if your laptop username is Jane Doe, your library catalog username is Jane_Doe. Passwords remain the same.
We have this year's new releases from your favorite young adult authors, including Elizabeth Acevedo's Clap When you Land, Samira Ahmed's Mad, Bad, and Dangerous to Know, Elana K. Arnold's Red Hood, and Dean Atta's The Black Flamingo.
Notable nonfiction titles include Feeding the Young Athlete, A Queer History of the United States, (Don't) Call Me Crazy: 33 Voices Start the Conversation About Mental Health, and Dear Ally, How Do You Write a Book?
Culturally Responsive Teaching & the Brain (Hammond) and Black Appetite, White Food (Lyiscott) are among our newly added professional titles.
