Happy Friday, PTE Texans!

We made it through the first full week!

Arrival and dismissal are going very well. Just a couple of reminders. Only students who are on safety Patrol or Morning Greeters should be dropped off before 7:15 am. All other students can not be left alone waiting in front of the school without supervision.

Our PTA membership challenge with Timber Creek Elementary School is going great! You can see more about it below. We are up to 377 memberships. My goal is for us to have one member for every student enrolled at PTE. Our current enrollment is 640. There are all levels of involvement in PTA and if all you are able to do is join PTA, that will be enough. See below for how to join for only $11.75.

Back to School means FOOTBALL SEASON!

Run with the Marauders! Our 5th graders will join the team running through the helmet on Friday, August 25 against Highland Park. This is the first home game of the year. Due to excessive heat, game time has been pushed to 7:30 pm so we will have the kids arrive between 7:00 and 7:15.

5th Grade students will get a red "ticket" to get into the game for free. Any adults or siblings that also wish to attend will need to purchase a ticket. More info will be sent directly to the 5th grade families from Mrs. Vaughn on Monday.

If you have not filled out the forms, we need you to do this ASAP. You received a reminder email this week if you have not finished those.

Ms. Howell is ready to give out some tickets for summer reading! The more you read over the summer, the more tickets and prizes you earned. Parents can email the logs to howellj@lisd.net or send them back with your child. They can give the reading logs to their teacher or turn them into Ms. Howell directly. #CoolKidsReadBooks

Just a quick reminder that we won't have any lunch visitors until after the Labor Day weekend. By Tuesday, September 5th we should have a good grasp on lunch routines and be ready to accept visitors. In the meantime, if you would like to drop off a special lunch for your child, you are welcome to do so.

Throughout the year, our amazing PTA provides a snack pantry for our kiddos who might have forgotten their snack or need a little extra support with their meals. 🥪🍎 But, we can't do it without the generous donations from all of YOU! 🙌

Help us kick-start the year with a fully stocked snack pantry by donating a box of individually wrapped nut-free snacks like pretzels, goldfish, or applesauce pouches. Donations can be dropped off in the front office or shop our Amazon wish list HERE and select “Prairie Trail Elementary” to have it shipped directly.

Prairie Trail was recently named a 2022-2024 National PTA School of Excellence. National PTA’s School of Excellence program supports and celebrates partnerships between PTAs and schools that work to improve the educational experience and school environment for every child. Prairie Trail and Prairie Trail PTA are one of only 368 PTAs and schools nationwide to be designated a 2022-2024 School of Excellence!

The School of Excellence program provided guidance to assist our school in engaging families in school decision-making, and help our school build inclusive policies related to increasing volunteer opportunities. Becoming a National PTA School of Excellence began with the joint commitment of PTA and our phenomenal administrative team to work together to welcome all families, communicate effectively, support student success, speak up for every child, share power and collaborate with the community.

To celebrate our achievements, National PTA will present Prairie Trail and Prairie Trail PTA with a certificate and a National PTA School of Excellence banner to hang in the school.

Thank you for your commitment to our school community. Thank you for helping us reach this noteworthy milestone for our school and community.
