Honoring Mrs. MacGregor

This week was National School Counselor week! Students wrote down reasons they appreciate Mrs. MacGregor on hearts and this display was in the hall. It was fun to see the way kids would stop and read about all the ways that Mrs. MacGregor makes an impact on our school.

Bussing for the 21-22 School Year

Any student who resides in the Valerius attendance area will be provided bus service free of charge to the Jensen site. This is true for all Valerius zones (free, pay, and walk).

When it is time for registration please sign up for the bus process. Routes and stops will be created based on the requests received.

Open enrolled students are able to purchase bussing from established stops if they would like.

Bussing is optional. Students are not required to utilize the bus service.

The bus service is for school hours only (if a parent is utilizing Adventuretime before / after care there would not be bussing early or late in the day to access that service).

Valerius Neighborhood Meeting

The Urbandale Community School District invites Valerius Elementary neighbors to attend a Neighborhood Meeting in order to learn more about the new elementary school that will be built on the current Valerius site. Construction of the new elementary school is scheduled to begin this summer, and will span a total of two years (2021-2022; 2022-2023) with the new building opening for the 2023-2024 school year.

The Neighborhood Meeting will cover speciﬁcs for what Valerius neighbors can expect during construction. For example: construction timeline, demolition, traffic patterns, equipment, safety, and hours of operation. There will be a Question/Answer session at the end of the meeting.

Exchanging Valentine's During Covid

Due to COVID-19, we will not be exchanging Valentines this school year. Our PTO is planning and supporting a party as they have in years past for classroom teachers to engage students in celebrating friendship. We are hopeful that next year we will be able to resume the exchange of Valentine's.
