A Note from Mrs. Williams
Hello Schluter Families!
It’s been a short, but wonderful week here at Schluter! I can’t believe we are already halfway through our first grading period. We cheered on our Eaton Eagles for their homecoming with several of our students in our PTA’s Schluter float in the Homecoming Parade. We also cheered with our Eaton cheerleaders today during our Friday morning assembly. Be sure to ask you kiddo about that. It was so much fun!
We are looking forward to welcoming our grandparents on Monday morning for our Grandparent’s Day breakfast. Please see the important information about that below.
Also, check out how to join our PTA! We are in a Beat the Bears competition with our friends at Berkshire Elementary to have the most PTA memberships for the month of September. Unfortunately right now, Berkshire is in the lead, so I need your help! If you haven’t joined PTA yet, please do, and tell your family members! You can join by visiting schluterpta.org and following the prompts. Your donation to join supports so many wonderful things we do at Schluter for our students, such as our water bottle fillers, buddy benches, books for students, and so much more! I hope you consider joining and partnering with us as part of the PTA!
It's going to be another beautiful weekend, so have a great one!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Williams
We are so excited to welcome our grandparents to celebrate Grandparent's Day with their students for donuts in our gym Monday morning.
Doors open at 7:20. Please enter through the main front entrance only.
To enter the building we are requiring that you have your driver's license with you and you walk in WITH the student you are visiting.
Adults who are not with their student will not be permitted to enter the building. Thank you for planning accordingly.
Are you coming to the Grandparent breakfast? Let us know by signing up below!
Help us spread the word! Post on your community pages, tell your family and friends!
In the spirit of friendly competition, we are doing a "Beat the Bears" PTA Membership Drive from September 1st to the 30th with Berkshire Elementary!
The school with the most new PTA members during the month of September will be declared the winner! The losing school’s principal and assistant principal will have to wear the winning school’s spirit wear during assembly. Let’s make sure the Berkshire Bears are covered in PURPLE!!
In addition, the class with the most total PTA members by the end of the month will win a POPCORN PARTY!
Remember, anyone can be a member of the PTA (parents, grandparents, siblings, students, teachers, staff, and community members).

We are excited to welcome back lunch visitors to Schluter! Per NISD policy, the first 2 weeks of lunch visitors will be required to RSVP via sign up genius.
- You must sign up using this sign-up genius prior to the student's lunch time. Only those who have signed up ahead of time will be allowed to enter our building at their child's designated lunch time. Please have your driver's license/state ID for us to scan.
- Due to limited seating, we are only allowing two guests per student. If there is not an available slot to sign up, you will need to wait until the next set of dates are made available. Please allow other parents the opportunity to sign up by refraining from signing up for multiple days.
- There will be a designated lunch visitor seating area for you and your child to sit for lunch. You may not sit at student tables with other students.
- Only your personal child will be allowed to join you at the designated lunch visitor seating area.
- Once the lunch time has ended, please allow your child to join their class line to go to their next activity for the day. It is important that student's instructional time is not interrupted.
- Once the lunch time has ended, please go directly to the front office to sign out for the day.
Thank you for following these procedures. In following these, this allows us to continue to be able to allow our families to continue visiting for lunch.

Please review the map when making a ride change for your students. Intermediate walkers dismiss out the 4th/5th grade hallway and exit to Prairie Breeze while Primary walkers dismiss out the Kinder/1st grade hallway and exit to Mesa Crest near the park. Your students grade does not indicate which exit they need to take, just where you meet them.

School Meal information for 2022-2023
All Northwest ISD students can charge up to 5 breakfast and lunch combo meals. Adults and children not enrolled in the district are not allowed to charge. After the charging limit has been reached, NISD students will receive a courtesy meal. A breakfast courtesy meal includes two pieces of toast with the students’ choice of milk, juice, and/or fruit. A lunch courtesy meal includes a sunflower butter & jelly sandwich with the students’ choice of milk, juice, and/or fruit. Courtesy meals must include fruit and meet combo meals guidelines.
Finally, if you meet certain economic requirements, be sure to apply for the free and reduced-price meal program. With federal funding no longer available to provide free meals at elementary and middle schools in Northwest ISD, it’s imperative that families in need apply for this program to keep receiving benefits should they qualify.
Free & Reduced Lunch Program
While the federal government subsidized a free meal program that Northwest ISD implemented for all elementary and middle school students last year, this program was not funded for 2022-2023. This means families who meet income requirements should apply for the free and reduced-cost meal program if they believe their children should qualify for these meals.
Students in this program receive one breakfast and one lunch combo meal daily for their free or reduced-cost price. Families can apply online or print out a paper copy of the form. Those who previously were accepted into the program will have a 30-day grace period to reapply.
