Did you know that I-Ready and Reflex both practice multiplication facts? Both of these programs can be accessed on technology at home. It is so important that our students know their math facts. Students can use flash cards to practice, the Dollar Store has math flash cards. When you are driving in the car, quiz your student on multiplication facts.
Students are working towards being Math Masters and 144 members. To be a Math Master students master math facts up to 10’s, to be 144 Member students master their multiplication facts up to 12’s. Students will receive a certificate at our weekly Monday Morning Meeting to celebrate their success!
Thank you for your support, please reach out if we can support you or your student in any way,

Counselor’s Message
Leadership club started in September. Leadership students spent time learning about what it means to be a leader and planned spirit week for Red Ribbon week. Leadership students will be helping with Snack Shack on Thursdays during snack recess. Students can purchase snacks with their team tickets at the snack shack. We will have Boo Gram sales the week of Red Ribbon week. Boo grams will be .50 cents and on sale during lunch recess. This is a school fundraiser to be used by PTG. Leadership students will be creating posters for this fundraiser at our next meeting and planning classroom presentations.
We use the Zones of Regulation to teach self-regulation. Students learn how to recognize when they are in different zones as well as how to use strategies to change or stay in the zone they are in. In addition to self-regulation, students learn how to define their feelings, skills in reading how other people are feeling, perspective taking, identifying triggers, and problem solving.
How can you use this at home:
Use the language and talk about the concepts. For example: “ This is frustrating me and making me go into the Yellow Zone. I’m going to take some deep breaths to calm down and get me back to the green.”
Share how your child’s behavior affects the zone you are in and how you feel.
Have your child identify how they are feeling and what zone they are in.
Help your child brainstorm ways they can get back to the green.
Identify your child's triggers
It is important to note that everyone experiences all of the zones. There is no such thing as a “bad” or “naughty” zone. Feelings are normal. We all have them. While they are normal we all need strategies to self-regulate and get ourselves feeling better so that we can be productive and get along with others.
Multi-Tiered System of Support
At Golden Hills we use a multi-tiered system of support. A multi-tiered system of support has three main focuses; academic, behavior, and social emotional. We provide teaching for all students in each one of these areas. When students don't respond to the whole school teaching we provide intervention. One of these areas is social emotional learning. We provide social emotional support for all of our students through the whole school curriculum. Social emotional learning is the knowledge, skills and attitudes to develop healthy identities, manage emotions, and achieve goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain healthy relationships, and make responsible and caring decisions. At Golden Hills we use 7 Mindsets and the Zones of Regulation to teach these skills.

Class October Attendance Challenge: The class with the best attendance for the month of October wins Mrs. Napoli for an hour of Halloween Science of October 28th!
From October 10th- November 30th, classes that have 95 % attendance for the entire class will be invited to a grade level ice cream social!
If your child is absent please call the school office to let them know the reason so that your child can possibly be excused.
Also, if your child will be absent for 3 or more days you can request independent study. Your child will receive work to do and if the work is completed, your child will receive credit for attendance and will not be counted as absent. If you have questions, please call the school office.
