Mill Creek Magic Messages
News and Updates from Mr. Croyle and Mr. Murtha 2/2/2024
From Mr. Croyle and Mr. Murtha
Welcome to February, Mill Creek... and perhaps an early spring if Punxsutawney Phil has anything to say about it! We had a great start to the month here at Mill Creek!
You will see, further down in the newsletter, a message from the Diversity Committee about Black History Month learning that will happen here at Mill Creek this month as part of our celebration and recognition of Black History Month. As this occurs, we will be sharing some highlights in upcoming newsletters.
Arguably the most exciting day of the week happened this past Tuesday when held our January "Magic Show" Assembly, which was kicked off by 6th Grade student Kavya Patel, who led the school with a "Creekers' Code... Let's Go" cheer. After, we had the opportunity to recognize our January Award Winners:
- 2nd Grade student Ryan D. was recognized as our Creekers' Code Character Counts Award winner for K - Kindness.
- 5th Grade student Casey C. received the We Salute You Award.
- 6th Grade student Nischith J. received January's Portrait of a Graduate Award - Critical Thinker.
- Roxy Therapy Dog Atticus, and his handler, Mr. Wargo, were recognized as our January Honorary Creekers for all they do for our School Community.
We were grateful to have some family members of the above students in attendance with us to help celebrate their recognition!
These awards were followed by opening our chest of Creekers' Code tickets to select students and hand our "Difference Maker" t-shirts. This month's selected students were:
- Kindergarten - Violet E.
- 1st Grade - Kinley Q.
- 2nd Grade - Richie M.
- 3rd Grade - Henry P. and Eric S.
- 4th Grade - Rylan N.
- 5th Grade - Addison C.
- 6th Grade - Logan H.
Our students then viewed a presentation from local children's author Hillary Sussman, who has written two books featuring Roxy the dog. Roxy happens to have three legs and uses a prosthesis. Ms. Sussman uses Roxy's unique attribute to write about respecting and understanding people with differences. Her second book focuses on bullying prevention, and she has a third book in the works. Ms. Sussman shared Roxy's stories and important messages about understanding, acceptance, and kindness with our students - all messages that reflect values embedded in our Creekers' Code!
Also, the students listed below represented Mill Creek in the in the VH1 All Star Choir last weekend. They performed during the Save the Music Concert at Holicong Middle School:

- Maxwell B.
- Annabelle C.
- Madison F.
- A.J. F.
- Logan H.
