November 21 - Newsletter #3
Hey Livingston Family
We are working hard this year to get our students back to our new normal. Vocabulary is one way to help support them in all subject areas. Vocabulary acquisition is the process of learning new words. An adequate vocabulary is necessary for academic success. Just think about what would happen if a student didn't know the words that are written on his test. Would he be able to give the right answers? Probably not, if he doesn't even know what the question is. So, you, as the teacher/parent, have the very important job of teaching him the vocabulary he needs to succeed both in the classroom and beyond. How can you do this? You'll need to create a list of words that are essential for your students to know academically and subject-wise. Break them down into groups of several words to teach each week. Once your list is ready, then you're ready to move onto the three essential components of vocabulary acquisition that you must incorporate into your activities. See Livingston’s Academic Corner for ideas on how to support your learners.

Ms. Hall was nominated by a peer for displaying High Expectations.
This is what was said:
Ms. Hall holds her students to the highest expectations both in their behaviors and academic achievement, as well as, and in her own academic planning and instruction. She sets such a high standard and is so well liked and admired by her students that as the school year has progressed, they naturally and willingly take ownership for their behaviors and academic accomplishments and flourish as a result. She never permits any student to not do and be their best AT ALL TIMES when they are in her presence. Whatever it takes, she will ensure a calm, quiet, productive classroom environment that is highly effective and completely conducive to teaching and learning. Additionally, she sets extremely high standards for her own academic planning and instruction and employs so many different elements to her teaching that they would be to numerous to detail here. She is an inspiration to all her students and an invaluable asset to our staff. It is my pleasure to nominate her for “High Expectations”Thank You!!!
