Panther families,
One thing we are noticing in education is an increase of the mental health needs of students and families. Our resources as a school to support this vital piece of health are slim, plus, it takes a village, so I wanted to provide some resources for parents wanting to do some sort of education with your student(s) at home. This is a great article from the National Alliance on Mental illness about talking to your children about mental health. I plan to continue to share resources each week, so stay tuned, and please let me know if there is a particular topic on which you'd like information.
Along those same lines, tonight, there is an opportunity to join the conversation about all things related to school safety. Myself and many other district administrators will be at McDowell Elementary School tonight from 5-6 to get input from our community on this topic. We'd love to see you there.
Reminder that next week, students have school on Monday and Tuesday, and then they start Spring Break!
Stay awkward, brave and kind!

Question of the week from Principal Harp
Each week, I will be sending out a question with which you will be given the opportunity to engage in a new conversation with your child. We all know how hard it is to draw out responses other than, "nothing" or "fine" when we ask "What did you do today?" or "How was school?" Be sure to use open ended follow-up questions and statements such as "Tell me more about that!" or "What did you think of that?" Please ask your student(s) the question below, share their response with us and make our day! You can submit more than one response! (No need to put names or identifying words.)
What is one thing you can do to fill your teacher's bucket this week?

Rivertown Hoops Team Registration
Inspired by other successful 3 on 3 tournaments in the northwest, the Petaluma People Services Center (PPSC) decided to create the premier 3 on 3 basketball tournament in Northern California. Identifying the need for people to be active, often in smaller urban areas, the idea of hosting an outdoor 3 on 3 basketball tournament was cultivated. The tournament will act as a fundraising
mechanism to rehabilitate local basketball courts and encourage people of all ages to participate in the greatest sport ever created.
The inaugural tournament will be held Saturday, March 18,2023 at Petaluma Junior High School. We are expecting at least 88 teams this year. All non-profits who participate in the tournament, by supplying volunteers, will receive a portion of the profits.
