Meet Pete
In Kindergarten, students were introduced to Pete the paint brush. They learned how to care for paint materials and explored different painting techniques. It was wonderful to see their creativity shine through their artwork!
Not a Box
Second Grade Snowflakes
In the Enrichment classes, the 2nd graders had a blast creating their own thematic Tic-Tac-Toe boards. They used their creativity and critical thinking skills to design the boards and then played against each other. It was a fantastic opportunity for them to showcase their artistic abilities while also engaging in friendly competition!
Cultural Arts
On Thursday our Hawthorne students attended a multicultural music assembly, Gather Here. Students learned about different cultures from around the world. Students learned about how and why people gather around the world and how different ethnic music has influenced modern American music.
Second Graders Celebrate Writing
Second graders writers from Ms. Boccio, Ms. Biagiotti, Ms. Weitman and Ms. Fennell’s classes had a writing celebration today! They shared their published persuasive/opinion letters. They also learned how to give specific compliments to one another!

Reminders
Recess in Winter Weather
Please be sure that you send your child to school dressed appropriately for the weather each day. Warm jackets, hats, and gloves are essential. Exercise is a vital part of your child’s day. Fresh air, exercise, and sunshine are essential for a healthy body and mind. We will make every effort for students to be outdoors for recess when temperatures and wind chill are above freezing. Please understand that as weather conditions change throughout the day we may transition from indoor to outdoor recess and vice versa.
