News from the Principal
Greetings Knight Families,
Thank you to our wonderful 5th grade parents who were able to donate items or volunteer their time at BOA this year. It was a great learning opportunity coupled with lifelong bonding that will carry our 5th graders through the year and beyond with fond memories. We appreciate all that our coordinators, Sherry James and Amber Weidenfeller did to make it a success!
Thank you to those who attended our Book Character Parade and those who got our characters ready to participate at home. It was a great parade and the new outdoor venue made it easier to enjoy all of the participants.
We hope that you enjoy a safe trick or treating evening with your families. We will declare, Wednesday, November 1st a pajama day so that it makes it easier to wake up and come to school.
RTG is this Friday! If you have not pre-checked for your badge, please do so this week. We are looking forward to a fun day of walking and raising money for our KES students. Please make sure to bring any donations for your grade level and remind family members to donate online.
We look forward to presenting "Pirates: The Musical 2" this Thursday at 6:00 in the cafeteria. Mrs Shipman and our KES Choiristers have been hard at work preparing for this spectacular performance. Please join us to support our Fine Arts program.
Thank you as always for your dedication and support to our school!
Go Greyhounds! Go Chargers! Go Knights!
Have a great weekend!

Tardys IMPORTANT UPDATE
It is very important that students get to school by 7:35 am each morning to begin the school day. The doors to the main hallway will lock at 7:40 am each morning. If your child arrives after 7:40 am you will need to sign them in at the front office. It is equally important that students be at school for the entire day, so they do not miss out on instruction.
Starting November 27th, we will be adjusting our tardy time to 7:35 am to align with the district expectation for all elementary campuses to ensure that all instructional minutes are met. The doors to the main hallway will lock at 7:35 am and parents will need to come to front office and sign the student in.
Being on time will contribute to their continued academic success.
Counselor Updates
Hey Parents! We are working our way through the Great 8 Skill of the Quarter: Self-Management which is one’s ability to control emotions and behaviors, especially in new and challenging situations. We will incorporate the importance of being thoughtful and respectful to ourselves and others while we discuss self-management.
Gifted and Talented Referral window will open on November 15th. Parents of students in grades 1-5: be on the lookout for an email from Boerne ISD/Cindy Bills (Director of Advanced Academics) for your opportunity to refer your student to be evaluated for the Boerne ISD Gifted and Talented program. Parents of kindergarten students: all kindergarten students will be screened for the gifted and talented program. For futher information, please visit the Boerne ISD Advanced Academic’s website.
The next College, Career, and Military Readiness Day will be on Wednesday, November 2nd. We encourage all students to wear their favorite college, career, or military shirt to school.
Knights on Duty
Mission
Knights on Duty is an organization consisting of Kendall Elementary School parents who want to be a positive influence to students and who are committed to supporting a safe and secure learning environment.
Job Duties
Knights on duty sign up for a three-hour shift in the morning or afternoon. During the shift, a knight may conduct perimeter checks, monitor campus activity including lunch/recess, sign up for a classroom visit, or fulfill other duties. The goal is to be watchful for suspicious activity on/around campus and to be a positive role model to students.
Management
The Knight’s on Duty program exists under the authority of Kendall Elementary School. All knights on duty must follow Boerne Independent School District policy and state law. The program is managed by the school resource officer.
Check In
Knights on duty will check in at the front desk. Each knight will be issued a lanyard and tag for identification, a radio for communication with staff, and an access card to get into the building. The knight will be briefed by the school resource officer on any campus activities or needs occurring during the knight’s shift.
Guidelines
Knights on duty are encouraged to be positive role models to students. This can happen a variety of ways including engagement during extracurricular activities or in student classrooms. In order to be respectful of the campus learning environment, classroom visits should be scheduled with teachers before the knight’s shift. A knight should refrain from joining a class or extracurricular activity without communicating with the faculty member in charge. All disciplinary issues are to be handled by faculty members only. If a disciplinary issue is observed, it should be promptly reported to a faculty member or the school resource officer. Report any emergency immediately. It is better to report a suspicious circumstance, accident, or disciplinary issue immediately than to ignore or put off the issue and take the chance that it will develop into a more severe problem.
Once this is completed, please reach out to Officer James Russell sro.james.russell@boerneisd.net
