Where did they go?

Wednesday came this week and poof.... our students were gone. In their place we had construction workers, dalmations, and lots and lots of older folks (besides me). A HUGE thanks to our staff for coming up with so many fun, yet educational activities to mark our 100th day! Be sure to check out all the pictures below!

There is NO SCHOOL ON MONDAY! This year we are honoring Lincoln's Birthday instead of the traditional President's Day.

On Tuesday, we celebrate Valentine's Day with celebrations from 9-10 AM. If your child is bringing Valentines, he/she/they need to have one for each child in the room. If your child will not participate, please make sure the teacher is aware. NO food or candy can be sent with your child.

PTA Read-A-Thon

The PTA is hosting the Read-A-Thon again this year!

Your student will be bringing home an informational flyer so keep a lookout for this. We are being sponsored in part by Bookies and the money raised will be going back to the schools to buy reading materials for students. We will have prizes for the student from each grade who reads the most minutes.

Family Conversations:

Who are you cheering for in the Super Bowl? Now's a perfect time to talk to your child about being a good fan. Some people show team support by wearing their colors, waving a pennant/sign, or cheering for them. Remember that the actions and language you use can be carried over into the school setting. Talk about ways you can appropriately show support for students and family members who participatein sports.

And the winners are...

The Illinois State Board of Education has an award each year called Those Who Excel. There are different categories for the award, three of which directly tie to Willow School.

Our deserving winnners were second grade teacher Yolanda Collins, community volunteer Patty Welsh, and the team award went to the Citizens for Homewood Schools.
