Stay The Course!!!
We are closing in on the 4 and 1/2 weeks of the 3rd 9 weeks of the school year. The trajectory of this school year is set. It is imperative that we stay the course! Attendance (absences and tardies remain a focus). I cannot impress upon you enough the importance of being at school daily and on time. The goal is for all students to be in Tier I of the DCS Attendance Protocol (0-4 unexcused absences). As mentioned before if your child is NOT in Tier I of the attendance protocol he/she has an attendance recovery plan. This plan includes staying for evening school and/or working outside of the regular school day to recover academic time missed. Additionally, our Mentor Monday for this month focused on teaching replacement behaviors through character education (dependability and punctuality).
Congratulations to the Lead Learner of Dublin City Schools, Dr Fred Williams, for being named one of four finalists for National Superintendent of the year! This is no small feat and an awesome honor!!!
Thank you to the students and staff of MSS that participated in the MLK Jr. parade. Braving the wind was challenging but the experience was well worth it. As Dr. King so eloquently penned "The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of convenience and comfort, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy." See pictures below.
We are planning a school wide field trip to the Tubman Museum in Macon, GA in honor of Black History Month. Be on the lookout for more information concerning the details of this trip.
MSS is proud to announce several collaboration efforts across the district. Additionally, we have two students who are dual enrolled at Georgia Military College. We are currently collaborating with DHS as Ms. Sampson is teaching one class there this semester. We are also collaborating with SDE by providing two student for half of the school day to offer support in the 3rd and 4th grades. Specifically to support small group instruction. These students are earning credits toward an early childhood pathway. Thank you to Mrs. Fluker (principal) and Mrs. Clark (3rd grade teacher) for the opportunity.
Our upcoming FEC activities will be our freshman and sophomore transcript audits. See flyer below for dates and times.
Please remind your child of the dress code policy. Students are not allowed to wear hood/hoodies on their heads while in the building. Additionally, we are experiencing an increase in incidents of students vaping. Please talk to your child about the catastrophic consequences vaping could have on their health. We will follow the code of conduct as it relate to tobacco use on school grounds.
